Introduction
Officially the Republic of Yemen, Yemen is a country at the southern end of the Arabian Peninsula. Yemen’s coastline runs for around 1200 miles and the country is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the Gulf of Aden and the Guardafui Channel to the south and the Arabian Sea and Oman to the east. Included in the territory of Yemen are more than 200 islands; the largest is Socotra. Many of the islands are volcanic; for example, there was a volcanic eruption on Jabal al-Tair in 2007. Yemen is a developing country that is experiencing significant political crisis and famine among 17 million people.
Yemen Dog Names In Pop Culture
Mocha is the name of a port city on the Red Sea coast of Yemen. This port city title is also the name of a particularly well-known pup with a mission. Mocha is a rescued mini Pit Bull that resides in Brooklyn, NY. Mocha has several responsibilities; one is working as the cover girl on Rescue Chocolate’s chocolate bars and truffles. Perhaps her main responsibility, however, is providing encouragement for her guardian, Sarah Gross, to grow the company and increase the profits to be donated to animal rescue organizations.
Founded in 2010, Rescue Chocolate gives all proceeds to animals in need through multiple organizations like United Animal Nations, Farm Sanctuary, The No-Kill Advocacy Center, In Defense of Animals and more. While no one is sure of Mocha’s early months, it is thought that she was kept by illegal dog-fighters who cropped her ears for fighting purposes. Upon realizing she was not cut out for fighting, she was abandoned. Mocha was found underweight and terrified, by Animal Care & Control in New York City. Her foster mother posted a photo of her, which was seen by Sarah, who fell in love with the dog’s brown eyes. Sarah and Mocha met and Sarah’s love was reciprocated.
When Sarah and Mocha were at the park one day, Sarah realized that she could combine her two passions (rescuing dogs and chocolate) to develop a business. Mocha’s work gives her the opportunity to be an ambassador for her breed; in fact, the first flavor developed for Rescue Chocolate was Peanut Butter Pit Bull. Included with the chocolate bar is literature about breed discriminatory legislation and its fallacies.
More flavors were developed, each named after an issue that is significant in the animal rescue world. These include: Foster-iffic Peppermint, The Fix and Pick Me! Pepper. As appropriate for a company focused on animal welfare, each product is vegan and its packaging is eco-friendly. The chocolate is kosher and made by hand using the traditional techniques of Belgian chocolatiers. Rescue chocolate is sold online and in retail outlets like gourmet grocery stores and pet boutiques. As of right now, the chocolate can be purchased in 48 states, three Canadian provinces and two countries in Europe. Together, Mocha and Sarah continue their work one chocolate bar at a time.
Yemen Dog Name Considerations
Deciding on the right name for your pup is not easy. While sometimes the “perfect” name will just come to you, it is often more of an effort. After all, you are likely seeking a name that is a fit for your pup, that you don’t think you will get tired of, and that has some meaning to you. This can be a tall order to fill.
One way to go about coming up with name ideas and ultimately a name for you pup is to think of places that interest you. For example, with over 200 islands as well as a mainland, the country of Yemen may be worth a closer look. Embark on a virtual tour in order to learn more about its cities, towns, rivers, popular foods and famous people. From what you encounter, take note of any ideas that you feel may be a fit for your pup. Then, go ahead and try them out. Not only will a “trip” to Yemen be an interesting experience, but it may be a fruitful one, leading to just the right name for your new addition to the family.
