X-Men Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
Wolfsbane grew up in the Scottish Highlands alone and scared, until the fateful day that her Mutant power would finally manifest. Suddenly, Rahne transformed into her giant, lupine form right before the eyes of her estranged father. In equal measures frightened and ashamed of Rahne, Reverend Craig rallied the locals and led a mob against Rahne, labeling her a demonic werewolf that he intended to burn at the stake. Rahne, in her lupine form, was able to evade the mob and outrun them. Wolfsbane continued to run long after the mob had dissipated over the horizon until she eventually collapsed from exhaustion. While she was unconscious, Rahne reverted to her human form. Not long afterwards, a woman by the name of Dr. Moira MacTaggert happened across the unconscious Wolfsbane. Upon seeing Rahne's scarred and bruised body, Dr. MacTaggert decided to take Wolfsbane in and care for her.
Wolfsbane and Dr. MacTaggert developed a mother/daughter bond, and when Rahne's Mutant abilities where finally revealed to Dr. MacTaggert, Moira embraced the unique nature of her surrogate child. Moira continued to care for Rahne for many years. When it became evident that to the doctor that she was unable to meet all of Wolfsbane's needs as a Mutant, Moira contacted an old friend of hers who just so happened to be one of the world's foremost authorities on Mutantkind; Charles Xavier.
As a student at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, Rahne was able to live in an environment where she was surrounded by supportive figures and people who could relate to her and teach her how to control her abilities. After some time had passed, Rahne had become adept enough to become an X-Men and she joined the New Mutants subgroup under her codename Wolfsbane.
X-Men Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
The struggles of the X-Men, the Brotherhood of Mutants, and the Morlocks, as mentioned earlier, tend to mirror the struggles faced by members of the LGBT community and other marginalized groups all around the world; indeed, the initial discomfort and discrimination that many X-Men experience often mirrors the personal experiences of people who've been outed as being homosexual and the difficulties they might face in asking their family members to accept them. Furthermore Bolivar Trask, the Mutant hating creator of the infamous Sentinels, has often been compared to likes of Adolf Hitler or William Joseph Simmons. Because of these things, the X-Men have been viewed as champions of various Civil Rights causes, so consider naming your dog after one of these heroes to show solidarity with their cause.
