Introduction
Wizards of Waverly Place Dog Names in Pop Culture
In the 8th episode of season one, which is dubbed "Curb Your Dragon", Wizards of Waverly Place introduces the plot of Alex appealing to her brother, Justin, in the form of a dog. But this isn't just any dog. As this story takes place in a world full of witches and wizards, it should come as no surprise that Alex purchases a dragon-dog for Justin. She does this primarily out of guilt because she finally admits that years ago, when they were much younger, she had accidentally let Justin's old dog run away. While Justin is wary at first (due to the fact that their parents would be very upset if they find out the dog is actually a dragon) he eventually begins to play with the dog and enjoy having him around. It isn't long after that when Jerry and Theresa enter the room and ask about the dog. The kids simply say that the dog must be lost and they can put up fliers to see if anybody ends up claiming him. It is at this point that the parents decide to call him "Dragon" which of course, startles the children as they think that Jerry and Theresa know the truth; but luckily for Alex and Justin, their parents were clueless. The rest of the episode goes on to show how Alex and Justin try to keep everyone from knowing that their new Beagle dog is actually a dragon in disguise and goes as far as the pair needed to turn their youngest brother, Max, into a dog himself for a short time. In the end, Jerry and Theresa do find out that Dragon is actually a dragon, and despite all the drama that has occurred they decide that the family can keep him.
Dragon is a Beagle dog and although he has special abilities, such as blowing fire and flying, he is exactly like a typical Beagle in every other way. He is very sweet and loves being around his people, and has a very merry personality that keeps his tail wagging often. Still, Dragon also has that stubborn and fiery personality that an actual dragon has, and ends up flying around the room and burning up his ball while Alex and Justin try to explain these strange events to one of their friends, Frankie. Luckily, regular Beagles do not have this issue and just require a lot of playtime due to their curious, clever, and energetic souls. Even though you may not have a flying Beagle, the name "Dragon" may be perfect if you have one and want to name it after your (possible) favorite Disney TV show!
Wizards of Waverly Place Dog Name Considerations
Small dog breeds are going to be excellent candidates for names that come from the Wizard of Waverly Place theme. This is because monikers such as "Elf", "Flutter", and "Finkle" just fit well with the idea of cute and delicate animals. Of course, this isn't to say that large dogs can't fit into this category either. Both Justin and his father, Jerry, are tall men whose name's would settle well with a larger dog, such as a Bernese Mountain Dog or Great Dane. Because the Russo family lives in a world where quite a lot of magical situations occur, the list contains many names pertaining to many different and interesting creatures such as "Ogre", "Dragon", and "Rosie" (who is an angel). Regardless of whether you want to find a name that reflects your dog's personality, size, or coloring you will most likely have no trouble selecting one from this list. The combination of strange and ordinary caters to every individual's taste, and if you are a fan of Wizards of Waverly Place, then you have definitely come to the best location to find that perfect title for your beloved friend! Just keep in mind that names tend to be forever, so choose one that is fun and meaningful, both in the good times and the bad times.
