Introduction
Wayward Pines is a mystery television series, inspired by the novels of the same name by Blake Crouch. The show has had two seasons so far, and it seems that the third season will not be coming out, although one can only hope. The series follows the life of Ethan Burke, a Secret Service agent who wakes up in a town called Wayward Pines without any recollection of how he got there. He was told that he was in a car accident and spent some time in a coma. When he tries to leave and go back to his family, he finds that the residents always prevent him from getting out of town, so he starts suspecting that something fishy is going on in a mysterious small town in Idaho.
Wayward Pines Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Ben Burke is one of the main characters in Wayward Pines. He is the son of Ethan Burke and is the member of the First Generation. He was also a student at the Wayward Pines Academy. However, before ending up in Wayward Pines, Ben went on a search after his father with his mom Theresa. They were in a car accident, and after that, he woke up in the Wayward Pines Hospital, with, of course, no recollection of how he ended up there.
Ben found out the truth about Wayward Pines in school, and he was told not to tell his parents anything, as their brains could not process the new information, which would send them into a frenzy and cause a panic. None of the adults know what’s going on, but the kids are well aware that it is up to them to rebuild the world. He is paired with Amy for the purpose of reproduction; however, after his father’s death, it turns out that Ben was “sleeping” for three years, and that the town is now run by Jason, a cruel boy with a twisted worldview.
Ben also shares his name with one of the most iconic dogs out there, Huddersfield Ben. Ben is considered to be the foundation sire of the whole race of Yorkshire Terriers, quite a flattering title any dog would be more than happy to have. He was a prolific father, with numerous children who later became known as Yorkies. His owner, Mary Ann Foster always said that Ben was such a well-behaved dog who was easy to work with and train. He won over seventy awards in dog shows, and he was a superstar rat-baiter doggo. Back in the day, the Terriers were famous for their ability to kill rats, probably because of their small size, and because they were able to squeeze into hard to reach places.
Huddersfield Ben was a celebrity in West Yorkshire, so his untimely death was devastating to the community. He was run over by a carriage, and his owner decided to preserve his body through taxidermy so that everyone can lay their eyes on the sire of the Yorkie race. A little bit of Ben lives in all Yorkies today, so be proud of their origin, and be happy that a fantastic doggo such as Ben is the sole reason Yorkies grace the Earth today.
Wayward Pines Dog Name Considerations
Picking a perfect name inspired by the Wayward Pines can be fun, and also a perfect excuse to binge watch the show again. It’s for science, right? The world of Wayward Pines is mysterious and scary, but nevertheless, exciting, so any name you choose will undoubtedly have a fantastic backstory to it. Think about it, if you name your dog Ethan, after Ethan Burke, you can tell his story to your friends, and maybe even hook them to the show, or inspire them to watch and read more science fiction.
The name Jason is also a fantastic choice. Jason is, of course, a cruel boy who ends up running the town after he decides to freeze all the adults again since they cannot comprehend the severity of the situation the last bastion of humanity is in. Surely, if you are looking for a scarier name, you can pick the moniker Abby, after the aberrations that littered the Earth and are a threat to the remainder of humanity. Abbies are, of course, mutated humans and predatory creatures who can survive in the hostile environment the Earth has become in the year 2014.
