Introduction

Vinyl was an HBO show that premiered on February 14th, 2016. This show was created and produced by multiple juggernauts of the film and music industry, including the likes of rock idol Mick Jagger, legendary film director Martin Scorcese and prolific writers Rich Cohen and Terrence Winter. Set in the 1970s, Vinyl follows a record studio executive named Richie Finestra (played by the talented Bobby Cannavale). Finestra starts the series off as a burnout whose passion for the music industry has dimmed from a roaring fire to a whimpering flame. Richi is inspired to kick things back into high gear after living through a life-altering experience. Despite the immense talent both in front and behind the camera, Vinyl was canceled after its first season.

Vinyl Inspired Dog Name Considerations

Vinyl was an ode to the 1970s music scene - and all the excess, debauchery, creativity, and passion that came with it. The show featured a myriad of characters - some of who were fictional and others were stand-ins for actual icons from "The Feel Good Decade." Vinyl didn't just depict the 1970s as a time when everyone was happy and carefree; the show went to great lengths to provide a more realistic representation of the decade. Richie may be a fictional character, but he possesses the same sort of moral bankruptcy that's synonymous with the music industry. If you love art and music from the 1970s but also want to experience a more grounded depiction of the decade, do yourself and favor and watch Vinyl. The show currently sits at a 7.8 on IMBD and holds a Rotten Tomatoes score of 76%. Much like the 1970s, Vinyl isn't perfect and has a lot of fundamental problems, but there's still a lot of heart and talent involved.

If you're a fan of Martin Scorsese, Terrence Winter, or Rich Cohen, then you should check out Vinyl as the show has their creative stamps imprinted all over it! Mick Jagger and the rest of the innovative team also made sure to include tons of great music from the 1970s, both organically and creatively.
