Uruguay Dog Names In Pop Culture
Some years back a few friends from England were out drinking at a pub when they came up with an idea; to walk to the World Cup in Brazil. The plan meant walking 1,966 kilometers, a symbolic distance because 1966 is the last time that England was the World Cup champion. The friends were motivated to raise money to build a well in the Brazilian state of Bahia, whose farming communities have been struggling as a result of severe drought. Of course, walking 1,200 miles is a lot and there was some doubt that the friends could do it.
It turned out that the friends were successful in their walk, if not a bit behind in their fundraising. However, a lot happened while the three friends were on the road. They added a fourth walker to their group and received English national team uniforms when Nike heard about their trip. The four walkers also were accompanied by a canine companion that they met along the way. The group was about halfway through Uruguay when a Black Labrador started to follow them. The pup was rather smelly, so the group assumed that he was a stray.
They did not think much about the fact that the dog was following them. After all, they had been followed by other strays along their journey. When they stopped at a café, the dog crawled under their table. The group tried to shoo the pooch away, however, the dog did not want to leave. Later that night, the men set up their tents and went to sleep. When they awoke in the morning, the dog was there waiting. The men began to walk and the dog followed them throughout the day. And the next day, the dog sat, ready for the men to get going on their journey. The dog walked with them for 800 kilometers over five weeks and they began to call him Jefferson Ramsey Moore.
Eventually, a man named Nacho came across the story of the men walking to Brazil accompanied by a Black Labrador. It turned out that this dog was Nacho’s pup, named Negro. Nacho was able to contact the men to let them know that he was the owner of the pup. Nacho hitchhiked to Porto Alegre, arriving at the same time that the men and his pooch finished their walk. Reunited with Nacho, Negro was happy to see his person, and was oblivious to his new fame.
