Gus gained fame due to his inspiring journey. News of his plight and remarkable transformation spread, prompting an outpouring of donations to support his medical expenses and care. The HSNT team worked tirelessly to rehabilitate Gus, providing him with medical treatment, love, patience, and training to restore his trust in humans.

However, Gus' fame goes beyond his rehabilitation. Anna Barbosa, the woman who had brought him in to get medical attention, adopted him.
