Introduction
Tunisia, officially known as the Republic of Tunisia, is located on the Mediterranean coast of Northwest Africa and includes 64,000 square miles. The country is bordered by Algeria to the west and southwest, Libya to the southeast and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east. The landscape of the country includes mountains, desert, rolling hills, plains and coastline. Despite its small size, Tunisia has significant diversity in its environment as a result of its north-south extent, as rainfall greatly decreases as you head further and further south.
Tunisia also has plenty to offer when it comes to unique name possibilities; one of which may be just what you are looking for when choosing a name for your friendly new addition!.
Tunisia Dog Names in Pop Culture
Ben Arous is the name of a city in northeastern Tunisia, as well as a potential name for a pooch that can bring the country to mind. One dog by the name of Ben proved to be a hero when he saved the lives of children in a house fire. A member of the Rauschenberg family, Ben, a Bernese Mountain dog and Border Collie mix, is a rescue dog that his human mom, Colleen, first saw in their town newspaper. Colleen found his photo unappealing, however, when she met Ben in person, he looked nothing like the photo. Ben soon joined the family and became a much-loved part of their household. After Colleen and her kids had to move out of their house into an apartment, Ben was not allowed to stay with them. During a visit, the gentle pup charmed the landlord with his excellent behavior and manners, leading to the landlord allowing Ben to move in. It turns out that decision may have saved the lives of Colleen’s children.
One night, Colleen decided to have some rare time to herself. Her friend’s daughter, Alexx, asked if she could babysit to earn money and Colleen agreed. Colleen called home several times during her night out to check on Alexx and her two kids. Things were going well and Colleen decided to stay out later. On her last call, Alexx let her know that the kids were asleep and that Alexx might doze off as well.
But then Colleen received another call, where her daughter was yelling into the phone that the house was on fire. While the kids and Alexx slept, it is thought that Ben smelled the smoke, and he alerted Alexx by pouncing on the bed until she woke up. Fortunately, Alexx had learned from her mom that if a dog ever woke her up, she should listen. It is a good thing she did. When Alexx got out of bed to let Ben out, thinking he needed the bathroom, she got to the living room and saw the fire. Fortunately, she was able to get Ben and the children out of the house before she called for help.
Colleen is forever grateful for Ben’s heroics, knowing that without him there is a chance her children and her friend’s daughter would be gone. She plans to save enough money to have Ben’s face tattooed on her. For his part, Ben does not think he did anything particularly special. He is happy with his bowl of kibble and daily walks.
