The Secret of Monkey Island Dog Names

The Monkey Island Franchise enjoys the presence of "Dinghy Dog”, a mascot at the carnival who tries his hand at guessing the weight and the age of those who seek to enter the carnival. A large cartooned character who wears a blue hat and has the personality of a henchman but with an exuberant laugh, Dinghy Dog has only a minor role in "The Curse of Monkey Island". Seen in the Big Whoop Carnival, this canine may be an undead crew member in costume but no one knows for sure. 

The Monkey Island franchise also features a talking skull named Murray in "The Curse of Monkey Island". Murray the dog, of Mad About You fame was a lovable, funny little dog with a determination to his personality just like the talking skull.  Murray is a Border Collie mix who was lost in Central Park as a puppy.  The character Paul on the Mad About You sitcom found him and thought having a puppy would be the perfect solution for him and his buddy, Ira, to attract women.  

Murray is a dog who is loyal, lovable and affectionate - but a little lazy and slow.  Murray is always chasing an invisible mouse around the apartment. He then “hooks up” with a Cairn Terrier, a show dog across the hall named “Sophie” and then becomes the proud father to a litter of five puppies.  It is also revealed that Murray really was chasing after a mouse when his owner, Paul, later discovers one. Murray the dog lived in New York City, New York.  

Moose, a character on Monkey Island, is also the name of the dog that played the part of “Eddie” the dog on the sitcom Frasier. Eddie was Frasier’s father’s pet dog who was very witty, apparently having a high IQ. He liked to taunt Frasier.  Moose is a Jack Russell Terrier and this fan favorite received more fan mail than any of the other cast members on the sitcom.  Moose retired after ten years and was replaced by his son, Enzo. Moose lived to be close to 16 years of age and had several magazine and television highlights in his canine acting career.
