Introduction
The Mighty Ducks Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
Pluto first debuted in a black and white cartoon from 1930 called The Chain Gang. Mickey starts the episode off as a prisoner of Pete the Cat. Pete forces Mickey and a bunch of other prisoners to turn big rocks into little rocks all the livelong day. The prisoners eventually get fed up and start a riot. Mikey, being the smart mouse that he is, uses this riot as an opportunity to escape. When Pete catches wind of this, he sends a pack of guard dogs after the mouse - one of which is Pluto, who's a Bloodhound.
A year later, Pluto would return with Minnie Mouse in a 1931 cartoon called The Picnic. Here, Pluto goes by a different name acts as a foil to Mickey and Minnie's plans. Despite the dog's unruly behavior, Mickey and Minnie have a great time during their picnic. Pluto would finally be addressed by his current name later on that same year - during a cartoon called The Moose Hunt. This episode is not only responsible for giving Pluto his proper name but for also giving him his only line of spoken dialogue thus far.
During the previously mentioned episode, Mickey and Pluto try to hunt down a moose. The creature outthinks and outpaces our heroes, making fools of them every chance he gets. At the midway point of The Moose Hunt, Mickey gets tricked into firing blindly. In the ensuing uproar, Mickey believes that he's accidentally shot Pluto! Heartbroken, Mickey runs over to Pluto's side and pleads with him to say something. In response, Pluto coyly says "kiss me" to Mickey before spring back up on all fours and playing around with his master. Pluto hasn't said anything else since this early episode, but this single line is now an iconic piece of Disney trivia.
The Mighty Ducks Inspired Dog Name Considerations
If you're a dyed in the wool Hockey fan, you could also name your pet after members of the Anaheim Ducks' roster. You don't even have to limit your search to their current team; numerous players, coaches, and general managers have come and gone over the years, so a Hockey fan will have no shortage of names to consider. If you watched the animated Mighty Ducks show back in the day, you could also name your dog after any of the series' heroes or villains.
