The Bourne Ultimatum Inspired Dog Names

Jason Bourne is a fictional character and the main protagonist in the Bourne book series created by author Robert Ludlum. Jason Bourne is just one of the several aliases that is being used by David Webb, a Foreign Service Officer and career Force Reconnaissance Marine Captain. In the novels, Webb trained to become an operative for the CIA after his family was unjustly killed in the Vietnam War. In the film version, however, he was part of the US Army recruited by the CIA to become one of their elite assassins. Bourne’s first appearance is in the 1980 novel The Bourne Identity, which was later adapted into a movie of the same name in 2002. In all the film adaptations, the role of Jason Bourne has been played by actor Matt Damon.

Jason Bourne is considered to be one of the most popular fictional antiheroes in pop culture. Both the novels and films were a success commercially and have become prolific. The name has also been synonymous with action and toughness. Because of how renowned the name “Jason Bourne” has been, it has become a top name choice for pets.

One famous example is Jason, the dog owned by Roland Kincaid in the 1998 horror slasher film A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. The movie is the fourth installment of the insanely popular Nightmare on Elm Street film series featuring the iconic character Freddy Krueger. The plot of the movie is a continuation of the third film, entitled A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.

The film starts in 1988, a year after the events in the previous film took place. The three surviving teenagers, namely Kristen, Joey and Kincaid have left Westin Hills and return to their normal teenage lives. Kristen, however, cannot completely get rid of her fear and thinks that Freddy Krueger will return soon to take revenge on her. Using her ability to pull people into her dreams, she decides to do so to Kincaid and Joey, which angered the two. During this dream sequence, Kincaid’s dog, named Jason, was also pulled into Kristine’s dream. When she leans close to an open tunnel, Jason jumps out to bite Kristen’s hand. The next day, Kristen shows Kincaid the bite mark on her arm and Kincaid tells him that being dragged into a dream made Jason wild.

Jason also appears in one scene where Kincaid was playing in his room. Slowly, the door starts to open and a shadowy figure that looks similar to Freddy’s head starts emerging. Kincaid quickly gets up in fear and shock but relaxes when he sees that it was just Jason entering his room. They snuggle and fall asleep together as Jason whimpers while Kincaid is transported in the Dream World. When Kincaid gets killed by Freddy in his dream, Jason is seen standing by his side and sobbing while sniffing his master’s dead body.
