While you could pick any Tetum language dog name with a random meaning, there can be more fun in letting it mean something else as well. The first dog to tick that box is Kal. Kal means ‘maybe’ in the Tetum language, but is also the name of Henry Cavill’s dog. Henry Cavill has had many standout roles, such as Batman in Superman, Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. However, it’s his dog, Kal the Akita, that frequently steals the show.

Kal often appears in Henry’s social media posts, and for a good reason. He’s a big, adorable, fluffy bear-like dog that seems to be one spoiled pooch. Tasi is the offspring of Tiggerlong Nokia and Surgeon and had a seven percent win rate. While she’s no longer racing due to her old age, she earned nearly $6,000 for her owners.

Her dad, however, had an impressive 273 wins in 2012, and her mum had 279 in 2011. Tasi didn’t directly follow in her parents’ footsteps, but she still had some impressive results. She had her best time of 22.84 in 390 meters at Ballarat and 28.64 meters in 500 meters at Bendigo. Tasi also comes from a litter of four others, including Banana, Perpetual Motion, Surgeon Saly Ann, and Tigger’s Mobile. Between them all, they earned nearly $14,000 during their racing careers.

Finally, Boot, meaning ‘big’ in Tetum, is the name of an animated English Sheepdog in The Perishers comic. Boot thinks he is an 18^th-century nobleman called Lord Boot. He’s not all that good at domestic chores, gets regular walks, and has a weakness for sausages. He also has a sensitive nose for treats that gets him into trouble. Boots first appeared in The Perishes comic in 1959 and had his last appearance in 2006.
