Tetris Dog Names

If you have your heart set on naming your dog something related to Tetris, but also found in pop culture, then you will be pleased to know you can form some relatively straightforward connections. Below, we cover two dogs related to Tetris in pop culture, the first being Zed, and the second being Frank.

Zed is an animated dog that featured in the 2012 animated TV series called Ben 10: Omniverse. Ben 10 was a favorable cartoon among young boys and girls, following a teenager called Ben on adventures. Ben had a powerful device meaning he could change into different aliens, making for some action-packed TV.

However, Ben also had a team member known as Zed, an Anubian Baskurr. The breed comes from the Anubis which is the Jackal-headed god of Mummification, as well as from The Hound of the Baskervilles. However, the dog also shares its name with Zed, the red Z-shaped piece in Tetris. People also refer to Z as the left turn, right skew, lightning bolt, left dog, zigzag, left snake, among others. Zed also features heavily in Puyo Puyo Tetris, pronounced as Zetto. Zed is a big robot featuring a red Z-tetromino on his front. He serves as a housekeeper and chef aboard the Starship and gets all his features from the Z tetromino.

Another closely linked Tetris dog name is Frank, a Pug appearing in Men in Black. Frank relates to Tetris because he also shares the same name as Frank Lee, the man who constructed the world’s largest video game on the Cira Center. Frank Lee is a Drexel University Professor in the Department of Digital Media. He also co-founded the Drexel Game Design Program. Not only did he play a major role in Philly Tech Week, but he put Pong on the Cira Centre face in 2013, followed by Tetris in 2014 which gained a Guinness World Book of Records record.

The dog, Frank, however, is a fictional character in the first Men in Black movie, a sequel, then an animated series and video game. While he appears to be a regular dog, he’s actually an alien known as a Remoolian. Mushu is the name of the real dog who also played Otis in the movie Milo and Otis.

Even though Zed and Frank both only play minor parts in the Tetris world, they form a connection nonetheless. If you are a huge fan of Tetris, these two dogs in pop culture are bound to greatly appeal.
