Introduction
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, first played in the 1940s. It is a contact sport, and it is unique because of the head-height kicks, spins, jumping kicks, and overall fast technique. Korean martial artists developed taekwondo by combining Chinese and Korean martial arts, karate, and Subak, Taekkyeon, and Gwonbeop. Taekwondo is also an Olympic sport and has been since the year 2000, and it features several styles. If you practice taekwondo, you can climb up the rungs with belts, the lowest one being white, and the highest one in the color category being red, before moving on to the nine-rank black belt!
Taekwondo Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
If you are a dog owner, you have surely looked at your pup at some point and thought, how did I deserve to have such a good creature in my life! Most of the humans feel the same, but there are a few rotten apples out there who think that torturing and abusing animals is not only fun but also completely normal. And that’s how we get to the story of Pascal, a brave dog who survived something that most humans would not.
Pascal, the stray puppy, was minding his own business, as usual, when cruel children decided to have some “fun” and torture the puppy for their entertainment. They dragged him through the mud and covered him in glue, and just left him to die on an industrial estate in Turkey. The little doggo was only four months old, and when he was found, he looked so horrific that the rescuers thought he was dead for sure. He could hardly move because he was covered in glue and dried mud, and he had symptoms similar to rigor mortis.
Luckily, the noble volunteers of the He’Art of Rescue charity found him, transported him to a safe and warm place and began their treatment. The team of vets worked round the clock, removing the solidified glue from his body, treating his viral infections, and removing the fur which could not be saved. Even though he was tortured by irresponsible and inhumane children, Pascal made a full recovery, and only a month after he was found he was wagging his tail and even made friends with another doggo!
He even learned how to trust the humans again. He warmed up to his vet first, and slowly began to interact with others, and he also got a new family to love and care for him! He was adopted by a lovely woman and will now spend his days in the Spanish sun, strolling around on the beach, and being a happy doggo he was always meant to be! He also has a doggy brother, eats regularly, and is just enjoying life with his new loving family, with no fear of the horrible things ever happening again!
Taekwondo Inspired Dog Name Considerations
As a taekwondo lover, you know that it can become quite hard to pick ONE name for your doggo because there are so many great practitioners out there who deserve recognition. The competitive sport has become so popular that even the celebrities are practicing it, so you could potentially choose the name of one of your favorite actors, musicians, or athletes who are regular taekwondo practitioners. It is no surprise that Sarah Michelle Gellar is on the list, given her long-standing role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but you may be surprised that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the football legend is also a taekwondo lover. Both of their names are amazing and can suit your new pupper well, and let’s face it, Zlatan is a living legend!
You can also choose the names of the cast of Power Rangers who practice taekwondo, Jason David Frank, and Austin St. John. And who can forget the legendary Jean-Claude Van Damme whose name is perfect for a sassy doggo! If you are looking for a true taekwondo legend for inspiration, look no further than Tran Trieu Quan, a Vietnamese grandmaster of taekwondo who held the 9th dan black belt. Add Vladimir Putin and Connor McGregor on the list, and you got yourself marvelous names your doggo can proudly bear!
