Introduction
Supergirl is the type of hero that inspires people. Like her cousin, Superman, she is a symbol of hope. She first appeared in the late 1950’s and has stolen hearts ever since then. She was included in the group of characters that were renewed in DC’s massive 2011 relaunch. Ever since she first leaped onto the page, she has been portrayed in various forms of media. Today, she is portrayed by Melissa Benoist on the popular CW Television show by the same name. She is a unique character that attracts an interesting bunch of friends and quite a few enemies.
Dogs With Supergirl Inspired Names in Pop Culture
Fans of the show know that when it comes men, Kara can be a little picky. She will not go for just anyone and it would take a special man to capture her heart. At first, fans were split between Winn, the best friend, and Jimmy Olsen, the handsome newcomer. Winn had a crush on Kara for as long as he can remember. but, eventually, he had to let go of his feelings. He did the right thing by letting go and realized that his friendship with Kara was more important. Fans were disappointed, but they understood. Most fans were rooting for Jimmy Olsen anyway.
Kara saw what fans saw and almost immediately gained a crush on the handsome photographer, much to Winn’s chagrin. Jimmy did not seem to have much romantic interest in Kara which made the entire affair seem painfully relatable. Towards the end of the season, Jimmy realized that he had feelings for Kara, but it seemed that Kara had changed her mind. This earned a sigh from fans. Kara was happy the way she was and wanted to focus on her already hectic life as an assistant to Cat Grant as well as being a superhero. Some fans could not accept that and even considered the possibility of her and the Flash ending up together. Thankfully, that did not happen and the two remained friends.
Eventually, everyone settled down and accepted that maybe Kara was going to stay single forever. And then Mon-El showed up. Eventually, the two did end up together which was not much of a surprise. What was a surprise was that the two actors portraying the characters also fell in love and began dating. Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are almost as cute as Mon-El and Kara. They are both dog lovers and enjoy taking their dogs out for walks, which is where they find the time to bond. Since they have such hectic schedules, they do not have as much time for their dogs as they would like. They have a nice arrangement though, sometimes when Chris is too busy, Melissa will take his best friend, Drift, for a proper walk. It gives them time to bond and Drift no doubt loves Melissa almost as much as Chris does. The best relationships are the ones where the dog loves you too, which is something that Melissa and Chris can attest to.
Supergirl Inspired Dog Name Considerations
As mentioned before, Supergirl is one of a kind. She came to earth to protect her cousin and has stayed here ever since. She and Superman aren’t incredibly close, but they still share a special bond that comes from being the only survivors of a race of aliens. She also decided to use her superhuman abilities for good and is a force to be reckoned with. In some instances, her powers are stronger than Superman’s. She is a feminist icon and it is a delight to be able to watch her shine on her own television show.
Her friends and family are also gifted, which makes the show very interesting. There are many fan favorites, but the important thing is that all the characters have depth. Even the villains are people with interesting stories. The names on this list were chosen because in some way or another they link back to the incomparable Kara Zor-El. Some are villains, but that is okay since villains are usually the most entertaining characters to watch. Others are friends, fellow superheroes or just good people who make wonderful namesakes. One way or another, you will find a fitting name for your new puppy. Consider the personality of your new addition, or maybe his coat color? Select a name and see how it fits!
