Introduction
Superbad is an iconic American comedy movie directed by Greg Mottola. The coming of age film was produced by Judd Apatow and featured amazing actors – Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Seth Rogen, and Bill Hader. The script was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, two actor friends who loosely described their growing up experience in Vancouver during the 90s. The movie follows the story of Seth and Evan who are best friends, about to go to different colleges and want to throw the best party to celebrate the end of an era, the end of their high school adventures.
Superbad Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Superbad is considered to be a comedy, a movie that makes you laugh and feel better, maybe even reminisce about your high school experiences and embarrassing situations that happened to you. And yet, today’s story is about something infuriating. A beautiful, innocent dog called McLovin, after one of the main characters in the movie, had something not funny at all happen to him.
The story begins in Virginia, the state considered to be one of the safest for homeless dogs and cats in the entire United States. Over 80 percent of the cats and dogs in the Virginia shelters are saved each year, and some consider that percentage to be even higher. However, one dog did not make it, and it made people livid and created a heated public debate.
McLovin was the beautiful dog owned by the Second Chance Rescue in New York before he was transferred to Forever Home Rehabilitation Center in Virginia. A local citizen adopted him, and everything seemed to fall into place. One day, when they were walking along the street, McLovin attacked and killed a cat. Animal Control captured him, and the adopter surrendered his ownership of McLovin. The Second Chance Rescue said that the owner did not have the legal right to do that, and tried to adopt McLovin and return him safely home, however, the NACC told them that the moment the owner gave up his ownership rights, the dog became the property of the City. And this is where troubles began.
The City stated that the NACC would “humanely euthanize” McLovin. The Virginia law states that any dog that kills a cat is considered potentially dangerous and can be returned to the owner if he wants the dog back. Euthanasia was not necessary in this case. McLovin had someone who wanted him; he had people who loved him and wanted him back. He had it all, and yet, he ended up where he did because of someone’s ignorance and unwillingness to forgive.
And he is not the only one. Each year, many dogs end up executed because of something they potentially did. Sometimes, they did nothing. Sometimes, the only ones to blame are us, humans. And we need to do better; we need to fight the injustice and be real advocates for animal rights. We need to be more responsible and speak up about these things so they will never happen again.
Superbad Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Superbad is one of those movies that you can never get sick of. It is one of the films that you can see was made by best friends, and that they had so much fun making it. Therefore, it is no wonder that you are considering naming your dog after one of the characters or actors that helped make this film what it is. So, let’s begin.
For you chubby doggo, the perfect name can be Seth, after the main character played by Jonah Hill or Seth Rogen who wrote the script. Another fantastic choice is Evan, after Seth’s best friend and Evan Goldberg who co-wrote the script with Seth Rogen. Michael is an amazing and strong name for a goofy doggo that may remind you of Michael Cera, and Jules is a perfect moniker for a playful ginger pup, just like the character in the movie is. Becca is a girl who has a thing for Evan, whose name can be your pupper’s as well, and McLovin is the iconic name that appears on Fogell’s fake ID, and also your doggo’s possible new name!
