Introduction
Super Smash Bros. Dog Names In Pop Culture
Due to its ability to use martial arts moves and use telepathy to hold full-on conversations with you, Lucario may not seem to have a whole lot in common with more conventional canine creatures. But you can rest assured that despite Lucario's drastically different appearance, they still retain those most venerable of traits Canophiles have come to know and love; Lucario is known to be fiercely loyal Pokemon who trains relentlessly in order to hone its unique abilities and better protect its master. While Lucario doesn't really get to display its devout nature too much in the Super Smash Bros. series, the depth of the Aura Pokemon's fealty to its owner was exhibited to great effect in its animated film debut Lucario and The Mystery of Mew.
Ever since its 2006 Japanese debut in the co-released Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games, Lucario has enjoyed its status as a major fan favorite of dog lovers and Pokemon fanatics alike. Being a jackal-like, canine Pokemon with supernatural, spiritual qualities, Lucario is occasionally compared to the Egyptian God of Embalming and Death, Anubis; both Lucario and Anubis are jackal-headed bipeds who exhibit human traits and both of them have abilities linked with peoples' life forces or life energies. All things considered, that inspiration is undoubtedly one of the most prevalent in Lucario's personality and design, but it's still a matter of interpretation as far figuring which real world breeds have influenced the Aura Pokemon's creation.
Most Pokemon fans are quick to point out the similarities Lucario shares with Jackals, with the Anubis link serving as their major source of support, but other Pokemon fans have posited that Lucario could also have been created to act as a play on words to Boxer dog breeds, due to Lucario's ability to use Egyptian Boxing techniques in its move-set. No matter the inspiration for the Aura Pokemon's design, Lucario is still loved by many Smash Bros. players and Pokemon fans worldwide and its name will provide your pooch with an exotic and meaningful alias that other Smash Bros. and Pokemon fans will instantly recognize.
