Spectre Inspired Dog Names

Sometimes it’s not enough to give your dog a name from one of your favorite movies. It has to mean something more, or relate to something different. If you’d rather have another reference for your dog’s name, then why not look to pop culture and other movies that share the same Spectre-related name as well?

Two dogs fit that bill are Ben and Dog. Ben gets his name from the actor Ben Whishaw who plays Q, the M16 quartermaster in Spectre. The dog star ‘Dog’ comes from the 2011 film starring Daniel Craig. Daniel plays the role of James Bond in Spectre.

Ben (II) is quite a special dog. He is a Golden Retriever who has played several outstanding roles in family films. He played the role of William in Maybe Baby, Messenger in Made in Hong Kong, and Rusty in Purely Belter. His most prominent role, however, was as Shadow in the 1993 American adventure comedy called Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey.

Shadow lives his life with an American Bulldog, Chance, and a Himalayan Cat with a smart mouth called Sassy. When their owners have to relocate to San Francisco temporarily for work, the pets remain with the owners' friends on a ranch. Both the cat and Shadow miss their owners, but Chance wants to use the opportunity of freedom to explore.

When miscommunication sees the animals alone while the stand-in owner goes away, the animals think they were abandoned. Shadow starts to make his way home, with Chance and Sassy following close behind. The movie then follows their great adventure to get their sense of family and normalcy back.

Ben also won fans in the 2000 British comedy-drama Purely Belter. Purely Belter is about two teenagers who desperately want season tickets for a Premier League football game. They try to earn money by any means possible. Ben’s role is as a dog that follows a boy home, owned by a local thug. When they make it to the game, the thug sees his dog and the boy and tries to attack him. The boy floors him with a single blow, protecting his new dog.

Another dog relating to Spectre in pop culture is Dog. ‘Dog’ is Jake’s pet in the 2011 American science fiction film called Cowboys and Aliens. The movie is about an Arizona territory under attack by aliens in the 19th century. Dog relates to Spectre because the film stars Daniel Craig, who played the role of James Bond, 007 in Spectre. In Cowboys and Aliens, Daniel is Jake Lonergan, an amnesiac outlaw.
