Introduction
Spawn Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
The 1997 Spawn film's Spaz had an opportunity to do a bit of both throughout the movie's ninety six minute long run time. Spaz's earlier scenes in the film start off quite tame in comparison; the dog who portrayed Spaz was initially instructed to simply walk from one marker to another, lick the faces of various actors, and follow certain characters around during certain scenes. Pretty standard directions for a movie dog to follow thus far (indeed, most movie dogs' trainers are on set to help coach the dog through certain scenes off screen.) This was done on purpose, as the people behind the scenes of the 1997 Spawn film wanted to make certain that they were in compliance with the laws regarding the health and safety of animal actors in cinema.
For the most part, most of Spaz's scenes were intentionally planned out to be low energy, low intensity sequences. However, the actor who portrayed Spaz really got on opportunity to shine during a scene occurs at the mid point of the movie. During this pivotal sequence, Spawn faces off against the Violator for the first time in the dark and destitute alleyway that much of the film has taken place in, up until this point.
Having tracked down Al Simmons, the Violator initially displays his typically whimsical, if not obnoxious, demeanor. The Violator starts off by taunting Spawn, as per the usual, while also attempting to coerce Al into submitting to the will of Malebolgia. Visibly annoyed, Spawn rejects the Violator's advances and even mocks his iconic Clown visage. This is where Spaz comes into play; distracted by Spawn's remarks, the Violator fails to notice Spaz in his vicinity, until the small dog sneaks up on him and urinates on his foot. Angered further, the Violator lifts up Spaz and attempts to crush him with his bare hands. Al quickly uses a firearm to knock down the Clown, allowing Spaz to escape. Fed up, the Violator transforms into his true, demonic form and assails Spawn. Caught of guard, Spawn is trapped in the Violator's vice like grip until Spaz returns and bites the demon in the Achilles tendon. Spaz's contributions to this scene end when he is, unfortunately, kicked off screen but the actor who portrayed him did a marvelous job in such an action intensive scene.
Spawn Inspired Dog Name Considerations
The Spawn franchise also has been responsible for producing some of the most instantly recognizable panels and splash pages in comic book history. Spawn's sentient black, white, and green bodysuit coupled with his iconic living, weaponized cape, are among some of the most easily recognizable pieces of paraphernalia in all of contemporary fiction, alongside Iron Man's suit of Captain America's shield. A dog with a dark coat may suit a Spawn name. As well, the name Spaz could be just the fit for a canine who likes to dart around the home.
