Sleeping Beauty Inspired Dog Names

Briar Rose is the beautiful name of a sweet Spaniel who was rescued in 2017 by the Boykin Spaniel Rescue, Inc. When she was found, her black fur was matted and dirty, her body extremely thin and covered in injuries. Because of malnutrition, Briar Rose was incredibly sick and although she attempted to remain an upbeat and happy dog, the heart worms that were plaguing her caused much worry in her care givers. Thankfully, after much hard work and prayers, in July of 2018 Briar Rose made a full recovery and her heart worms completely cleared up. She is now living with Debbie Davis, her foster mom, who absolutely adores and cherishes the love and happy energy that Briar Rose has. The lovely black Spaniel now has a luscious coat and happiness in her eyes, which is truly the most beautiful accessory anyone can wear.

Another rescue dog that has a Sleeping Beauty inspired name is Beauty (or Sleeping Beauty as her full name is listed). This sweet dog was found as a stray in Mani, Greece while she was still a puppy. Beauty was taken in by a shelter in her area and spent the first nine years of her life in that shelter! Most shelters are able to rehome dogs relatively quickly, especially when they are as sweet as Sleeping Beauty. Unfortunately, this shelter had over 150 dogs at the time and only 3 workers who were struggling to keep up with all of the tasks. Even though Beauty wasn't adopted right away, she was cared for and off the streets where she could receive food. It wasn't until 2017 when Beauty came down with leishmaniasis that the little black dog was moved to Athens and put into an actual home where she received the love and specific attention she deserved. Her foster mother, Zaira is a well-versed care provider for dogs as she is known for choosing those pups that are especially difficult cases. Although little Sleeping Beauty is not yet adopted into a full home, she is recovering well and beginning to put on some weight. Her attitude is improving as well and it is clear that Beauty has hope for the first time in a while. 

It is amazing what a little love and care can do for animals. The story of Sleeping Beauty is one that revolves strongly around magic and the promise of hope; that there can always be a good thing that comes out of a bad thing. Just like Aurora, the sleeping princess who was awoken by her true love, these rescue dogs will one day find a home that loves and cherishes them with all their heart. And that is truly a happy ending!
