Throughout the series, Richard's startup company is plagued by rich businesspeople hoping to cash in on his success. One such man is Jack Barker, a CEO who has a history of taking small companies and making them huge. (Fun fact: it is generally thought that this character is based on real-life Microsoft employees - we'll let you sort out who!)

While Jack the human is on the scummy side of moral code, Jack the dog is a much purer of heart character from recent fiction. The beloved book series Little House on the Prairie features a sweet, little French Bulldog named Jack, who lives with the Ingalls and serves as their beloved pet pooch. Jack was a constant in their lives, coming with the family wherever they went.

Just to prove that the book is always better, in the written series, Jack gets to live out a long life with his favorite human and pass of old age. In the TV series, the poor pupper dies due to an infection in his ears caused by foxtail seeds! He then is promptly replaced by Bandit, a Border Collie mix. It's also interesting to note that in the show, Jack was not a French Bulldog at all, but instead was played by a big, shaggy dog!

The producers of the show knew that the breed wasn't right, but apparently, the doggo that played Jack (a good boy named Barney) was so amazing, they couldn't resist casting him. We think that's a pretty valid excuse.

With a name like Jack Barker, it's hard not to touch on the barkiest Jacks around - Jack Russell Terriers! (We should also mention that another wealthy character trying to benefit off of Richard is named Russ Hannerman -- how fitting.) Jack Russells have been hogging the silver screen for some time now, with films like My Dog Skip and The Artist bringing the breed to our attention.

This small-sized family of dogs is not like many of their tiny counterparts. Most minis were bred to be companions - cute, tiny, and low-energy.
