The American television series Scorpion is an exciting action-drama show where the lead characters take on terrorist threats by using wits and digital knowledge. It is a far cry from the usual terrorist-themed shows filled with physical action and violence or war, which is why it has gained a significant fan base during its four-season run. The show’s main character is loosely based on the life of Walter O’Brien, a self-proclaimed tech genius who has claimed to have achieved a number of feats, including hacking into NASA’s mainframe.

The name Walter is popular not just in television but also in the canine world. In fact, a renowned pooch with this name is a French Bulldog known for his human-like singing capacity. Walter Geoffrey the Frenchie, or simply Walter, is an Internet superstar from Austin, Texas. He first received attention when his owner, named Amber, posted videos of him “singing” on Instagram. It happened when his owner left him in the car while engaging in a conversation with a friend. Suddenly, Walter starts wailing in an operatic voice which, according to Amber, is his way of saying that he wants to be a part of the conversation. In fact, Walter’s owner shares that he often “sings” to let her know if he is displeased with a certain situation.

Walter’s “singing” video has since become viral and garnered millions of views across various social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Moreover, his video has been featured in shows such as The Today Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The video has also been remixed into different versions on YouTube. In addition, Walter Geoffrey the Frenchie has gained a significant following online, with over 500,000 followers on Instagram and 300,000 on Facebook.

Another famous pup with the name Walter is from the children’s book series entitled Walter the Farting Dog. Written by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray, the book is about a flatulent dog who overcomes burglars by farting on them. The concept was conceived in 1990 and was inspired by a real-life dog (also named Walter) whose owner gave him beer and doughnuts regularly, which led to frequent foul-smelling farting.

With help from his wife, Kotzwinkle began to write the book. However, it was not until eleven years later, in 2001, when they found a publisher, North Atlantic Books, who was willing to issue the story. After being published, Walter the Farting Dog became a surprise success and even made it to the top of The New York Times’ list of children’s bestsellers.
