Introduction
Rush Hour Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
The year is 1941. World War II is still raging on, with the Axis pressuring various countries into either outright joining their ranks or remaining neutral in the war. Finland straddled the line between compliance and neutrality during 1941 - they were allied with the Nazi regime but never personally took part in any battles. Finland was also one of the few countries that wasn't occupied by the Nazis despite being allied with them, leading to a number of interesting developments. One of them, in particular, was when a man named Tor Borg decided to train his Dalmatian, named Jackie, to raise one of his paws whenever he heard the word "Hitler."
Mr. Borg vehemently despised the Nazi Regime and wanted to make a mockery of the Third Reich as a whole. By teaching Jackie to raise a paw whenever he heard the Fuhrer's name, he hoped to underscore how ridiculous the goals of the Nazi Regime were. For a long time, Mr. Borg and Jackie silently protested against the Nazis in their small, yet clever way. The two went about this task without incident until word reached the SS and an investigation was launched by diplomats in Finland. Yes, the Nazis launched a full-fledged investigation on a dog just for raising a paw whenever the word "Hitler" was said near him. Mr. Borg's unique form of protest apparently worked too well.
The Nazis made life very difficult for Tor Borg, summoning him to court numerous times and allegedly sabotaging his business. Nevertheless, the man and his dog pressed on and continued to resist the Third Reich as best as they could. Tor Borg and Jackie were eventually let off the hook by the Nazis, who were unable to press charges against them. If their case seems like a very ridiculous story, that's because it is and that's the whole point; Jackie and Tor Borg managed to show just how extreme and totalitarian the Nazis were via a simple joke.
Rush Hour Inspired Dog Name Considerations
On paper, you probably wouldn't imagine a Hong Kong action star and deviously funny comedian from Georgia to work so well together. But Bret Ratner and Ross LaManna saw something that no one else really did in those two. We're definitely thankful that they did as the Rush Hour films are some of the funniest action films you could ever see. It's been a long time since Rush Hour 3 came out - long enough for a show based on the brand to come and go - but here's hoping that a fourth film reunites Chan, Tucker and the rest of the cast and crew. Get comfortable, rewatch the movie and choose a name from the film for your pup based on their character; Jackie and Tania are good choices to start with!
