Introduction
Puppy Dog Pals Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
When you think of a dog named Bingo, you probably think of that old song that goes, “There was a farmer who had a dog, and Bingo was his name-o. B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, and Bingo was his name-o.” Yes, that is a cute nursery rhyme, but this Bingo is an outcast circus dog who ends up becoming best friends with a boy named Chuckie, who is also an outcast and saves his life.
The movie starts out with a look at Bingo’s life as the dog that nobody cares about in the circus, owned by Steve and Ginger who pay no attention to him. They decide to try using Bingo in their big act called “The Ring of Fire,” which was supposed to be done by their star pup, Lauren, who stepped on a nail and cannot work. However, Bingo is afraid of fire after being scared as a puppy and chickens out.
Steve gets really mad and tries to shoot Bingo, but Ginger stops him, and tells Bingo to go find another family to live with. The following day, Chuckie is hanging around with his brother Chickie and his gang, but he is slow, so they challenge him to jump a bridge to prove he is brave enough to be in their club. Chuckie misses and lands in the water, where he is not breathing until Bingo sees him and jumps on his stomach to get the water out of his lungs.
Chuckie tells Bingo they are going to be furever furiends and when he gets home the next day, his parents are very worried about where he has been but tell him he smells like a wet dog. He continues to spend all his time with Bingo, but when the pup starts getting into things, his parents tell him that when they move, Bingo is not going with them. Although Chuckie plans to sneak Bingo into a box to go with them, he sneaks out of the box in the middle of the night and misses the car when they leave the next day.
Bingo ends up getting kidnapped by a couple of bad guys, Lenny and Eli, and when Chuckie finds out he tries to save him, but he ends up getting kidnapped too. Chickie finds out that Chuckie is kidnapped and tells his parents who call the police. The cops find and arrest Lenny and Eli and release Chuckie and Bingo but they see that Bingo is holding a suitcase that has explosives in it. It explodes, and everyone is in shock and both Chuckie and his mom faint.
The next day, Chuckie wakes up in the hospital and sees a crowd of people who are all friends of Bingo and they are all happy to tell him that Bingo is alive and will recover. Chuckie asks his dad if he can keep Bingo and he says yes but they have to get him neutered and the movie ends as Bingo lifts his head as he hears this.
