Introduction
Prometheus Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
A quick recap of how the Xenomorph life cycle works; a small, mostly defenseless creature known as a "Facehugger" crawls out of a large egg-like pod, jumps up and latches onto the head of an unsuspecting victim. The Facehugger then proceeds to force its eggs down the throat of its victim, effectively impregnating them with the Facehugger's DNA. Its job complete, the Facehugger keels over and dies - its carcass hardening and stiffening up like a statue's. A period of time goes by where the Facehugger's victim seemingly returns to normal. In truth, the next being in the Xenomorph's life cycle is gestating inside of them.
Once ready, this being tears its way out of its host's body. These beings typically tunnel out of their host's chest, hence why they've been deemed "Chestbursters" by fans of the series. The Chestburster will then slither off to a secure location where it can hide away from potential threats and molt into its final, terrifying form. Within minutes, the Chestburster sheds its hide and transforms into a full grown Xenomorph. To make matters worse, the Xenomorph's final form is largely determined by the DNA that they're able to steal from their hosts; Xenomorphs born from humans are bipedal, while Xenomorphs born from Predators (the same ones that fought Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover) have super strength and dreads!
Now imagine the entire process that we've just described and apply it to a dog. That's exactly how we ended dealing with the Runner Xenomorph species as a whole; a Facehugger latched itself onto an unsuspecting dog by the name of Spike, commenced its dark ritual, and created one of the most horrific forms of Xenomorph that witnessed thus far. The Dragon gave Ripley and co. quite a run for their money throughout the third film, causing massive damage and leaving behind a grisly body count.
Prometheus Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Though Prometheus is very different from Alien in many respects, it still pays homage to its predecessor - largely by virtue of explaining where certain characters and concepts that showed up in the 1979 film first came from. If you're an Alien fan who liked the Engineers and the Xenomorphs quite a bit, then you may appreciate how Prometheus handles these benign groups of characters. Consider your pup's personality and looks as you seek a name related to the movie. Empress, Eloise, Ash and Yautja are just a few monikers to start with!
