Pooh's Heffalump Movie Inspired Dog Names

The Tigger who is Winnie the Pooh's friend is full of life and energy, always bounding around on his tail with a heartfelt smile on his face. While our spotlight dog may not bounce around on his tail, Tigger the Staffordshire Terrier mix does possess a happiness that has been well-earned. You see, this little dog was born with a condition known as ectrodactyly or "lobster-claw" front paws, meaning that they were too defective for him to walk properly. Instead of being able to run and play like a normal dog, Tigger was forced to scoot around, needing to stop and rest every few minutes, in order to get where he needed to go. Such a situation can be the end for a dog, especially if they do not receive the care that they need, but Tigger is a special case and thanks to the constant love and support of his foster forever mom, Eve Good, Tigger has received a gift that made life fulfilling for him; prosthetic legs. Even though many had suggested that Tigger should just be put down, those who loved him weren't willing to give up that easily. And so began Tigger's journey towards his new legs. 

In October of 2016, Tigger went through a specialized surgery that was intended to help his paws be stabilized enough for prosthetics. The special legs have padding and plenty of support for Tigger's paws in order to ensure that no unnecessary pressure is put on his limbs. Naturally, the prosthetics took a little bit to get used to, but Tigger was enthusiastic and a quick learner. Multiple sessions of physical therapy aided him in learning to walk with the new legs, and although wobbly at first, Tigger slowly made progress. He can walk with confidence now and so much relief has been provided for the sweet little dog. Not only can he actually move around freely on his own, but Tigger is now at a normal height, instead of being hunched and uncomfortable.  

It is absolutely incredible what modern technology can do for both humans and dogs alike. Without the prosthetic legs, Tigger would have either been euthanized or lived a very limited and unhappy life. But thanks to the love of his owner, Eve, and the attention of the medical staff who fitted him with his new legs, Tigger can now be a normal dog with a life full of potential and happiness.
