Introduction

How is it possible that video games could save the world? In the 2015 Adam Sandler movie Pixels, video game genius Sam realizes that he must use an arcade-type video game to save the world. Somehow alien beings have intercepted video-feeds of arcade-style video games from the 1980s such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, and they have interpreted these videos as threats from planet earth. Sam Brenner, once an arcade video game champ, learns that a U.S. military base in Guam has been attacked by what seems like characters from the Galaga game. After a few similar attacks, Sam begins to realize a pattern (one of his talents). He will join other arcade-style game masters to help save the world.

Will Cooper enters the story line of Pixels at the age of thirteen, when he enters a video game tournament with his friend Sam Brenner. Cooper loses the tournament to Eddie Plant. The video game tournament was taped on video cassette and sent into space in a time capsule. It is this video cassette that aliens stumble upon, leading them to mistakenly believe that earth is about to wage a war on them. Interestingly enough, Will Cooper is President of the United States in 2015. Cooper will help his friend Sam to defeat the aliens by playing the video games they loved growing up.

Cooper is currently a very trendy name with dog owners. It's cute and has only two syllables, which is what is recommended by dog experts. Because it is such a popular name, there are also many dogs on the silver screen and in pop culture who carry the Cooper name.

Florida native Cooper is a Coonhound who found himself in the midst of a controversy. Cooper accidentally bit a child; however, witnesses testified that Cooper only did so because he felt threatened. You see, the child's uncle is a neighbor of Cooper's, and unfortunately, he and Cooper did not have a good relationship due to the neighbor's constant teasing of Cooper. One day, the uncle put the child between himself and Cooper, and the hound bit the child thinking that the child was threatening him. At first, Cooper was going to be euthanized, but, after many witnesses attested that the uncle was harassing Cooper, the authorities relented. Cooper is now back home with his loving family.

Pixels Inspired Dog Name Considerations

While Pixels is chiefly concerned with video games and aliens, one of the games the aliens mimic is the legendary Duck Hunt, one of the first Nintendo games on the Nintendo console. Duck Hunt features a dog that interacts with the gamer. This brown and white dog would look over its shoulder at the gamer, jump into a bunch of tall weeds, and retrieve any downed ducks. However, this pesky pup would appear and laugh at the gamer if he or she happened to miss the waterfowl. Although the breed of this dog is not given specifically, there are a few brown and white waterfowl hunting dogs that might possibly fit the breed.

The Brittany Spaniel is a liver and white dog that favors the dog featured on Nintendo's Duck Hunt game. The Brittany Spaniel is a great retriever, and they are often a pointer as well. The English Pointer and the English Setter have color variations that are brown and white also. Finally, the German Wirehaired Pointer is very much like the dog featured in Nintendo's Duck Hunt. Any of these breeds would be fit for a name inspired by the Pixels film.
