Introduction
Trying to come up with a name for a new dog in your family? We know that this is a tricky task. Between all of the other things you need to do to prepare to bring your pooch home, you might be combatting a few differing opinions on what you should name your furry new pal.
Fortunately, there are many different sources of inspiration for dog names in the world. If you love the television show Parenthood, then you know that there are a lot of characters in the series with great names that you could pass on to your new pooch.
Parenthood Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
The first famous pooch with a Parenthood inspired dog name is Max from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Max is famous for living with the scary Grinch character from the classic Dr. Seuss story. While Max always looks different depending on the adaptation, he is always a smallish brown dog. He also always has floppy ears and at some point wears a makeshift "antler" on his head. This particular Max, though tiny and seemingly insignificant, steals the show in the favored Christmas tale. Max displays many canine traits that can be admired, including loyalty, courage, intelligence and unconditional love. He is a character to be cherished as he teaches the Grinch a thing or two about life!
A second famous Max became a star when he was featured as Milo in the movie The Mask with Jim Carrey. Max is a Jack Russell Terrier. He arrived at the premiere of the 1994 movie in a limo, which really stole the hearts of a lot of the movie's fans. As Milo, Max got to spend a lot of time with Jim Carrey. While fans loved the Jack Russell Terrier, the part was almost given to a Corgi or Scottie, but the director decided that Max had the best energy, which the character needed to keep up with the movie's star Jim Carrey.
Our last dog with a Parenthood inspired name is Hank! Hank has a truly interesting story. In February of 2014, a small mutt snuck past the security at Maryvale Baseball Park, where the Milwaukee Brewers practice and immediately stole hearts. The dog was cold and hungry and had matted fur, but the players and coaches just fell in love with him. They named him Hank, after famous baseball player Hank Aaron, and he soon became part of the family. He went viral on social media. He was even given a doghouse at the stadium. Now, he is retired and lives with a team executive.
