Pair of Kings Inspired Dog Names

The Kings on Kinkow Island are guided and guarded by Mason Makoola. Mason is a strong and capable fighter who is said to be a one-eighth sasquatch, but he is also a wise and level headed advisor. While he often gets annoyed by the antics that the boys get up to, and he is not keen on King Brady’s interest in his daughter Mikayla, he is ultimately loyal to the royal family and will go to great lengths to protect them.

In Alabama, another Mason went to great lengths to prove his loyalty to his family after a tornado ravaged his home and neighborhood. On April 27^th of 2011, a violent, multiple-vortex tornado struck Alabama, devastating large portions of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, along with several smaller towns that stood between the two. Mason, a long-legged terrier mix, lived with his family in one such town, North Smithfield. He was in the garage when the tornado hit; the tornado destroyed the house and garage, and Mason was nowhere to be found. His family searched for him for three weeks and had begun to give up hope when he showed up on the front steps of what had once been their home.

Unfortunately, the little dog was emaciated and badly injured from being pulled up into the tornado. Both of his front legs were broken, and he had dragged himself home on his elbows, a process that had to have been excruciating.

His family, much like many of their neighbors, were still in an unstable living situation after the destruction of their home and was unable to pay for the surgery that Mason needed. In a desperate bid to save his life, they brought the dog to Birmingham Jefferson County Animal Control shelter. After meeting the resilient terrier, adoption rescue coordinator Phil Doster contacted Vulcan Animal Care in Birmingham, where Dr. William Lamb determined that the dog would require massive reconstructive surgery in order to recover, then volunteered to perform the required surgeries for free, as well as all of the aftercare for a process which could take many weeks to complete.

With the help of two additional orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Lamb repaired the limbs, a procedure that required seventeen pins and two metal plates. The family visited the little dog as often as they could during the four months that it took for their furry family member to heal, and were delighted when they were able to bring Mason home after he made a full recovery.
