Introduction
Officially the Sultanate of Oman, Oman is an Arab country located on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. Located at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, Oman is in a strategic location. The country is bordered by the United Arab Emirates to the northwest, Saudi Arabia to the west and Yemen to the southwest. Most of central Oman is a gravel desert plain, while there are mountain ranges along the north of the country and the southeast coast. The stunning landscape and unique cultural offerings are certain to point to the perfect name for your new addition!
Oman Dog Names In Pop Culture
Every Thursday morning at 7:15 am, the Lite Rock Morning Show welcomes a representative from the Human Society of Ocean City, who brings and introduces the Lite Rock Pet of the Week. A no-kill shelter, the Humane Society of Ocean City has been recognized as one of the top ten animal shelters nationwide. One pet of the week that was introduced on the morning show was “Dusty”. At a year old, Dusty is an “Omani Wadi dog”, who was living on the streets of Oman prior to being rescued. There are many wadi dogs that can be seen almost everywhere in Oman. Unfortunately, the country does not have humane animal welfare laws and police have been given the right to shoot “any and all” wadi dogs.
Dusty, apparently separated from his canine family, wandered out of the desert at around six to eight weeks of age. After being found by rescuers, Dusty was fostered for around eight months by one of the rescue workers who found him. The pup arrived at the Humane Society of Ocean City on December 24, 2016, where he began to adjust to life in the United States. Dusty is described as intelligent and very happy. He is often shy initially, but is responsive to affection and food. Understandably, he can be sensitive to new things (like people, sounds, and bicycles) and would benefit from socialization training. While energetic, Dusty is not out of control and has good manners. Dusty is described as “rather submissive about most things”. Having traveled many miles, upon arriving in the United States, Dusty is ready for a forever family.
A stray dog in Oman got a lot of media attention when he found and rescued a newborn baby. A man riding his bike in Kharbika, Oman, came across a stray dog walking along the road with something in its mouth. The man noticed that there were blood drops on the road. When the man went to take a closer look at the dog, he discovered that the dog was holding a newborn baby, likely only a few hours old, in his mouth. The man went to the dog to save the child, concerned that the dog would eat the baby. While the man was concerned the dog would “fight” him for the infant, that turned out to not be the case. The dog did nothing once he encountered those at the scene, allowing rescuers to easily take the child. The baby was taken to the emergency room right away, where doctors evaluated the baby and concluded that he had no injuries. It was not immediately clear whose baby this was, though apparently a girl came into a hospital near where the baby was found, but left upon learning that staff would record her visit. It is thought that the baby could be hers. Regardless, without the help of the homeless pup, it is very likely the baby would not have been discovered.
Oman Dog Name Considerations
You have brought your new canine companion home and are excited to spend time getting to know them. What you did not count on was just how hard it would be to choose a name for your new friend! It can be a challenge to find a name that suits your dog, seems like one you won’t get tired of calling and meets any other objectives that you have, like having meaning to you or being unique.
One way to come up with potential name ideas is to consider a certain nation or region. It can be a place where you have lived, visited or hope to one day visit. Once you have a place in mind, take yourself on a virtual tour of it. The country of Oman, for example, is located on the Arabian Peninsula and is an interesting nation to explore to look for unique name ideas. With regions of vast desert along with mountains and coastal areas, Oman is a country with a lot to offer. During your tour, explore the cities, towns, mountains, popular food and well-known people of the country. If a name piques your interest, write it down. Once you have a few names that you feel are possibilities, try them on your pup and choose the best option!
