Old Dogs Inspired Dog Name Considerations

When a new pooch is coming into your life, the first thing that they have to learn is their new name. At the same time, you have to come up with a name that your pooch can easily pick up. It may seem simple to just think of a name and get on with your life. However, you need to put a lot of thought into your choice and take several factors into consideration before you settle on a final name.

One of the first factors to take into account when brainstorming for a dog name is the length of the name. The best names for dogs are those that contain only one to two syllables because these are the easiest to learn, understand and memorize. The sound of the name is also important; it should be clear enough to pronounce and the sound must be hard and concise. This combination makes for the best name for a dog and is best for retention.

You can also make life simpler for you and just use the name of an already famous dog. Throughout history, there have been multiple canines who have gained prominence in different fields. Some of the most popular dogs in pop culture, both real and fictional, include Lassie, Lucky, Toto and Pluto.
