Introduction
Most Popular Dog Names in Pop Culture
The story of Toast started out sad. She was a puppy mill dog who was rescued by fashion publicist Katie Sturino. Upon her rescue, the dog had no teeth because they had to be removed due to widespread decay, which is what caused her tongue to constantly hang out of her mouth. She had clear signs of abuse upon adoption but with the love of Katie as her owner, Toast started to flourish. Katie created an Instagram account titled, 'Toast Meets the World'. The account quickly started gaining a large following of devoted fans who loved the unusual looking pooch with the funny name.
As Toast's fame grew on Instagram she went on to get numerous endorsements and her life become a whirlwind of photo shoots and business appearances. Katie even wrote a book on the pooch. All proceeds were always donated to charity to fight puppy mills and animal abuse. Toast even enjoyed a canine-focused wedding that was featured on Real Housewives of New York City. The wedding garnered much fanfare and was an instant success.
This small dog was a hit not just on the internet. Her photos appeared on billboards across the nation. The little dog's owner took her everywhere and while visiting the various places she would take photos of the dog which would quickly be uploaded for all of her fans. The many places that the small dog visited gave her a fantastic perspective on the world around her and also afforded her an exciting and interesting life.
Despite her celebrity status she still remained a little bit of a rebel. She was known for tearing up toilet paper rolls and would often pee wherever she wanted. The little dog was a drama queen who would pretend she was unable to jump on the couch so that she could be lifted upwards. She also snored loudly. Her flaws were what made her wonderfully unique and endearing.
Unfortunately, in December of 2017, Toast passed away. Katie, Toast's owner, made the heartbreaking announcement on Instagram. Her many fans continue to mourn the small dog's passing. Her pictures live on across Instagram and the internet.
Most Popular Dog Name Considerations
Today, with so many celebrities having babies and buying pets, the names have taken on a whole new facade. It appears that everyone wants their name to be one-of-kind or something different from the rest. Researchers often believe that this is a cultural shift towards more freedom of expression. The evolution appears to have started during the 1960s when the rebellion in the young population was common and has continued onward through each successive generation.
Many people believe that a name actually attaches certain characteristics to the bearer. Popular names often have one key element and that is they are usually easy to read and pronounce. It is rare to for a moniker to escalate in popularity if the general public cannot pronounce it. This is one of the key reasons why names from other countries are not very popular with the general population.
When considering a name for your beloved dog you should look at popular human names but also names that are common for other dogs. With the emergence of the internet, many dogs have risen in popularity and become household names. Those celebrity pooches all boast names that are becoming very popular in today's social media-driven world. Whatever name you choose should fit your puppy and make you happy when you use it. The name needs to roll off your tongue and be easy to use.
