Monk Inspired Dog Names

Randy Disher is the second-in-command to Captain Leland Stottlemeyer, the captain of the San Francisco police department on the show. He has an awkward way of expressing himself, and often finds himself the butt of the joke, but is effective in assisting Leland, sometimes even spotting pertinent details that his captain has missed. Despite Randy’s tendency to jump to rather far-fetched conclusions when it comes to crimes, he has an impressive clearance and conviction rate. He is a loyal and tenacious detective who starts out as a skeptic of Monk’s methods but eventually comes to admire him.

Like Randy Disher, Randy, a gas station dog in Tamaulipas, Mexico, proved himself to be a loyal and trustworthy friend who is a capable crime fighter. A few years ago, an emaciated and frightened dog showed up at at the gas station of Gerardo Aguilar. He was timid, and it took time and patience for the staff at the station to gain his trust, but eventually, they were able to convince him that they were friends rather than foes. The people at the station bathed the dog, gave him food, had him vaccinated, and even gave him a name, Randy. Ultimately, they adopted the dog as a mascot for the gas station, and he made a wonderful mascot. He was friendly and well-loved not only by the staff but also by customers who frequented the station, some customers choosing that station in order to interact with him. As one of the attendants at the station was closing up one night in early January of 2019, the man was approached by two armed criminals who demanded that the attendant open up the office and tell them where the money was kept, so that they could steal it. When he refused to give them the information, the men became violent and began kicking and punching him, they outnumbered the lone attendant, and he was down on the ground, doing his best to defend himself. The fight created enough of a disturbance to awaken Randy, however, who had been sleeping peacefully in the garage. Randy knew just what to do; he ran out of the garage and straight for the thieves, and together the attendant and the heroic canine drove off the dangerous men. Shortly after the incident, Gerardo Aguilar posted footage of the dog’s heroics on Facebook and credited the dog with saving his employee’s life, stating  “If it weren’t for Randy, who knows how things would have ended. He shows us how grateful and happy he is with us.”
