Introduction
Maid Sama!, also known as Kaichou wa Meido-sama! is a Japanese shōjo manga and anime series created by Hiro Fujiwara, serialized in the LaLa manga magazine. The story follows the life of Misaki Ayuzawa, a girl who enrolled in a previously all-boys school called Seika High. She works hard to make the school a better place for the girls and even becomes the first ever female student council president. Even though she is considered a “demon” who hates boys, she secretly works in a maid café so she can support her sick mother and sister by repaying a massive debt her father left behind.
Maid Sama! Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
We all know the story of the legendary dog Hachiko. The loyalty and love that dog showed for their owner is a story worthy of the most heartbreaking novels, and it became so popular that nearly all countries in the world know about the Japanese pup. Hachiko has a dedicated sculpture, and many stories are told about the dog pretty much everywhere. Well, it seems that we have found another Hachiko, another loyal friend that will never give up and will always remember her human. And for that, from Japan, we have to fly to Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria.
The people and the media crews of Sofia had much to say about this new Hachiko named Sara. One day, Sara and her owner were taking their usual walk through the park, enjoying the outdoors and getting some fresh air and their usual bonding time. Everything seemed ordinary, just as always, until one fateful moment. Sara’s owner collapsed while they were walking. Sara barked and barked, and other park visitors called an ambulance which swiftly drove off with the man to the hospital, leaving Sara behind. She waited patiently, just like she was probably taught to do. She waited for days, but her owner never came. He never picked her up.
It is still unknown what happened to the man, but since he has not returned to pick up his dog, people assume that he has sadly passed away. But Sara never gave up hope. She kept waiting, looking up from time to time to see if her human is coming to take her home. She stayed in that park where he left her, hoping that she would return home and reunite with her best friend.
And people felt her pain. Several families tried to adopt her, to take her home and provide food, shelter, and love. However, the little pooch never wanted that. Every single time she would manage to escape and return to her spot in the park, waiting for her owner to come. Whenever an ambulance would pass by, Sara wailed and chased after it, hoping to get her owner to come out or rescue him from the back of the car. But that never happened. So Sara waits. She waits patiently for her master to pick her up, and hopefully, he is still alive and just in recovery. Hopefully, he is longing to get out of bed and pick up his dog, take her home, and make her the most delicious meal she ever had. And hug and kiss her every day.
Maid Sama! Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Kaichou wa Maid Sama! is one of those fun manga and anime series you can watch while you are taking a break between the stressful episodes of Naruto, Hellsing, or some other action-packed show. It’s fun, it’s quirky, and it has a maid café as the central point, which is always exciting as it gives a unique insight into the Japanese culture. So, if you have been watching or reading it and feel inspired to name your doggo after one of the characters, you can start with the name of the main protagonist, Misaki Ayuzawa, the former Student Council President of Seika High School known as the “Demon President” who secretly worked part-time in the maid café to pay off a substantial debt that her father left when he abandoned her family.
Another interesting name is Takumi, after Takumi Usui, a leading male protagonist, a talented, tall man who later becomes Misaki’s husband. If that does not sound right, why not go for the name Sakuya, after Sakuya Ayuzawa a chef of Maid Latte, the famous maid café, Minako’s husband, and Misaki’s absent father. Erika is a great name, after Erika Ono, a part-time employee at Maid Latte and a college student.
