Lusaka Dog Names In Pop Culture
The Henry Tayali Visual Arts Center in Lusaka focuses on exhibitions of contemporary Zambian Art. Henry also happens to be the name of a dog who was rescued and is now enjoying outdoor adventures with his best friend, who happens to be a cat. Henry, his cat BFF Baloo, and their people (Cynthia Bennett and Andre Sibilsky) live in Colorado and take hikes together in the mountains, earning themselves a following on social media with hundreds of thousands of people following them on Instagram.
Bennett and Sibilsky moved to Colorado from Boston, where they originally met. Upon arriving in Colorado, the couple began to hike on a regular basis and upon getting settled in the area, they chose to adopt a dog. Upon meeting a number of puppies, Henry stood out. A tall, lanky dog, Henry is a mix of German Shepherd, Husky, Boxer, Staffordshire Terrier and Aussie. While Henry was the same age as the other puppies, he was twice their size. When Cynthia entered the pen to meet him, Henry crawled into her lap. Henry was born to a life on the street and was ultimately taken in by a rescue that re-homes animals from other states. Henry immediately enjoyed going on hikes with his humans.
Cynthia understandably posted photos of Henry frequently on her social media accounts. She ultimately decided it would be fun to give Henry his own account. After three years, Henry had more than 30,000 followers. Unfortunately, Henry had bad separation anxiety and would be very stressed when his people were not home. According to Cynthia, they decided to get him a buddy to help him when he was home alone. Cynthia hoped to find a cat that enjoyed being outdoors and who would be willing to hike. After months of searching, they encountered Baloo, a rescue who was one of a litter of eight. Upon meeting Henry, Baloo was immediately attached. Some might say he is obsessed with his canine brother. Cynthia explained that it appears that Baloo thinks that Henry is his mom. In addition, Cynthia stated that Baloo seems to think that he is a dog, likely as a result of his time with Henry. The pair are clearly comfortable and have built a very trusting friendship.
