Introduction
If you were a teenager in the 2000s, then you probably spent a considerable amount of time watching and obsessing over the adventures of Lizzie McGuire. Lizzie is a 13-year-old girl at the beginning of the show, and during the course of the series, we follow her adventures in her dream to become popular in her school. Her best friends Gordo and Miranda are there to help her achieve that goal and learn to deal with her emotions, which are represented through the animated version of Lizzie that pops up in each episode.
Lizzie McGuire Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Life can sometimes be cruel and hard, and make regular activities much harder than they should be. Sometimes, in these tough situations, it can be hard for a dog to find happiness and loving home, and that is where the story of the lovely Stevie begins. Stevie, the two-year-old mixed breed doggo had a hard life. Animal control officers found him in Texas, close to the Mexican border, where he was wandering around aimlessly. They put him in a kennel but did not realize that he was a bit different. Stevie was attacked by his pen-mates, but couldn’t defend himself because he is both deaf and partially blind!
Stevie’s condition is such due to the genetic defect we know as microphthalmia, which made him very hard to adopt and a bit difficult to care for. An Austin-base rescue Addicus Legacy, pulled Stevie from the dog shelter to protect him from more injuries and damage to his already damaged eyesight. That is where Nicole Simone comes into play. She saw a video of dear old Stevie, and it made her cry for the cute doggo. In that video, he can be seen bumping into walls and spinning around, not being able to find himself in a new place. After she saw that, she knew that she had to do something and help him find a home. She is the founder of Redemption Paws, a rescue for at-risk dogs, so she knew how to handle Stevie and his special needs, and tried to find him a home where he can be happy forever.
Nicole says that Stevie is so positive and trusting towards humans, even though his life was nothing but hard, and that he allowed the vets to check him up and assess his condition without even flinching. The vet confirmed that he is suffering from a very painful eye infection and that both his eyes need to be removed. The vets did everything they could and cured Stevie of his illnesses, but then the real struggle began. Nicole says that it is very difficult to find him a home because people often feel sorry for disabled animals, which is not good for them. These animals need to be treated just like all the others, and they need boundaries, and human companions who will take care of them just like they would for a regular dog. Stevie has been working hard to fight his anxiety and learn to deal with the regular city life, but he is getting there! And he will surely find a home he deserves!
Lizzie McGuire Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Naming your dog after one of the characters from the beloved show Lizzie McGuire is a great way to honor your childhood memories, relive some of the best moments you had when you were a pre-teen, and have a great conversation starter in your local dog park with the rest of the 90s kids. Yes, Lizzie McGuire was a show that left a pretty strong mark on the childhoods of many now adults around the world, so naming your lovely dog after her is a great idea! You can choose either her first or last name, or, our favorite, give your doggo a full name and maybe even be brave enough to address them by that name in public! You will surely get plenty of smiles and sunny faces who recognize where that name comes from!
If maybe, Lizzie is not the name you’d want, you can choose Gordo, after David “Gordo” Gordon, Lizzie and Miranda’s best friend and later Lizzie’s love interest, when she admits she has feelings for him (finally!). Perhaps you lean more towards Miranda, Lizzie’s amazing friend, and a girl who inspired numerous girls around the world to be themselves and to never give up on their dreams.
