Limitless Inspired Dog Names

When it premiered in 2011, Limitless exceeded expectations and became a huge commercial success, grossing over $161 million in the box office. While it was his work in The Hangover that made him a household name, Bradley Cooper’s role as distraught writer Eddie Morra in Limitless received universal praise from critics and solidified his status as a serious leading actor. Another famous character named Eddie, albeit the four-legged kind, is the Jack Russell Terrier from the hit NBC series Frasier.

Dogs have always been a huge part of pop culture; they are often depicted in literature, art, politics and media, particularly in television and film. A lot of these canine characters have made their mark through their presence and memorable antics, and Eddie is definitely one of them. The Jack Russell is owned by Martin Crane, the father of Frasier.

In the show, Eddie seemingly has a knack for understanding most human language and commands to a certain extent. For instance, in an episode entitled Three Dates and a Breakup, he eats all the meals that Frasier prepared for his dates as if he knew that they would not be staying for dinner. Another example was when someone spelled out B-A-T-H and Eddie scurries away to avoid getting a bath.

One of the most common and recurring sight gags in the show is when Eddie makes constant eye contact with Frasier as if he is taunting him, which often means that he wants something. The unceasing look from Eddie always annoys Frasier and serves as comedy gold for the audience. In the show, the pooch mostly only listens and follows Martin and Daphne; however, he is scared of Lilith, the ex-wife of Frasier, and almost always does what she says.  

While he seems to have a way of understanding human speech, Eddie’s ability to learn tricks and his overall intelligence are inconsistent; there are moments when he cannot grasp the commands given to him by Martin. Throughout the series, Eddie either only understands his own name or he grasps exactly what is being said to him. Approximately a year of living in Frasier’s apartment, Eddie becomes the father of six puppies and was neutered due to Frasier’s insistence.

Eddie is not only a scene-stealer in every episode he is in; he is also frequently featured in the show’s closing sequence, particularly when the closing theme starts to play and the credits are rolling. Because of his funny antics and lovable appearance, the character Eddie is beloved by almost all fans of the show.
