Liar Liar Inspired Dog Names

Fletcher Reede is an attorney with a problem telling the truth. He lies for his clients, lies to judges, and, worst of all , he lies to his son. This last action is Fletcher's downfall. When Fletcher decides to spend time with a woman rather than attend his son's birthday party, Fletcher's son Max wishes that his dad cannot lie for at least twenty-four hours. Sometimes wishes do come true, and Max's wish does. Although Fletcher's situation is comical to the viewer, there is a lesson behind the laughs. Fletcher's lies hurt the people he loves and those who love him. Furthermore, although Fletcher does not always show love to his son, Fletcher learns that he truly values the relationship that he has with Max. He also learns that he does love someone other than himself (Max). 

In a time when unique names for canines is the norm, there is also a trend in old-fashioned names. Fletcher is one of those names that are not very common, but its vintage connotation makes the choice of Fletcher a great name for a dog of any breed. Fletcher means "one who creates or sells arrows." The arrow is a weapon, of course; it is used in some hunting situations, and there is an old way of saying that someone is very much in love or is very heartbroken by saying they've been shot through the heart (with an arrow). Fletcher in Liar Liar breaks the heart of his son Max by continually lying to him. 

There are many dogs named Fletcher in pop culture. The first Fletcher we'll speak of isn't a canine dog, but a dog all the same. Fletcher's Corny Dog is the original corn dog sold at the State Fair of Texas in 1942. This popular item took off from its appearance at the state fair, and it became a staple around the country. Although the Fletcher Brothers originally began as food vendors, they eventually opened a more traditional restaurant. Another pup named Fletcher also entails a business that serves meats. Fletcher, a Retriever-mix, visits the same butcher shop each day hoping for a lamb's bone. The shop owner is only happy to oblige him; Fletcher has been going every day for thirteen years. Yet another popular Fletcher is a cartoon pup featured in a book titled How Fletcher was Hatched. This Fletcher is a hound dog who believes his owner is more interested in her chickens, so he decides to find a way to hatch from an egg. All of these Fletchers are prominent in pop culture.
