Introduction
LEGO Star Wars Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
Indiana and Lucas were close - so close in fact that George Lucas has gone on record citing Indiana as being the primary source of inspiration behind Chewbacca's creation. Indiana is more directly referred to in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, where the previously mentioned archaeologist extraordinaire claims that he took his nickname "Indiana" from his family's dog with whom he had a close relationship. This is clearly a nod to Indiana, with Indiana Jones' close bond with his dog serving as a quick yet heartwarming nod to George Lucas' bond with his own Alaskan Malamute.
Aside from Indiana, the most prominent canine character related to the Star Wars universe is easily Chewbacca. As of this writing, Chewbacca (or Chewie as he's often called by others) has had major roles in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story as well as having a minor role in Stars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
For all intents and purposes, Chewbacca is gigantic, bipedal dog; he's incredibly loyal, is not much of a talker, and is covered from head to toe in a luscious coat of fur. Chewbacca was almost never seen apart from his good friend Han Solo and has become just as instantly recognizable as any of the other characters from the series in his own right; Chewbacca's signature vocalization has become just as, if not more, iconic as the Predator's infamous "clicking" sound or Jason Voorhees' notorious whisper sound. To this day, Star Wars fans continue to try and discern which real-world dog breed best resembles Chewie.
LEGO Star Wars Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Since the LEGO Star Wars line doesn't alter the names of the characters they adapt in any way, shape, or form we suggest that you consider which Star Wars character has the most physical and personality traits that match up with your dog and name your pet after them.
