Legion Inspired Dog Names

Legion, as a TV show and comic book, is relatively famous. So, imagine naming your dog something that appears in your favorite TV series or comic book, then again for a different reason in a film? That’s the reality with Lenny and Shadow.

In Legion, the TV series, Lenny (or Lenore if you call him by his full name) is David’s friend. He has a history of drug and alcohol abuse and receives treatment with David at a psychiatric hospital. Unfortunately, when Syd switches bodies with David and loses control of his powers, Lenny dies. However, in future episodes, Lenny appears in David’s mind and continues to make an appearance because he wants a new body. Eventually, with samples from Oliver, Amahl, and Lenny, they use Amy’s body for Lenny’s rebirth.

Lenny, in pop culture, is a talking dog in the movie Lenny the Wonder Dog. The 2004 film followed Lenny and a young boy going on an adventure to save the world thanks to his microchip implant. Originally, Lenny the Wonderdog was a screenplay written by Michael Winslow, but it then became a movie directed by Oren Goldman. Lenny the Wonderdog features Andy Richter as the voice of Lenny and has prominent actors such as Craig Ferguson.

Shadow is another character in Legion that’s also a dog in pop culture. Shadow, or Shadow King, is also Amahl Farouk in Legion, a mutant psychic. His consciousness feeds off David’s mutant abilities, feeding on him like a parasite.

Shadow King, or Amahl, also delves into the dark depths of David’s Childhood and manifests himself in many ways. He becomes an evil presence but establishes his true form as Amahl Farouk in later episodes after the production crew recast the role.

If Shadow King seems a little dark and gloomy, then you can lighten the mood with Shadow the dog, appearing in the 1993 movie Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. Shadow is Jamie’s dog, and the movie is an exciting remake of a 1963 film inspired by a book of the same name - Incredible Journey. The movie grossed over $41 million, and a second film followed only a few years later, dedicated to the film producer Franklin R. Levy who passed away during the movie’s production.

The film was quite a big hit in the United States for many reasons, but most of all because of the fun animals that appeared in it. Michael J. Fox voiced a disobedient Bulldog, and the wise old Golden Retriever Shadow shared a home with him. The house also had a smart-mouthed cat that caused a lot of chaos alongside the two dogs.
