Introduction
John Carter Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
Woola's history is actually fairly storied and even tragic in certain aspects but is ultimately a tale of perseverance and triumph. Woola started things off serving as the guard dog for a tribe of Green Martians known as Tharks. During this period, the Tharks had recently captured a strange alien that claimed to hail from a place called Virgia. The Tharks didn't know if they could really trust the Virginian, so they took him into their custody and tried to incapacitate him. The Virginian wasn't entirely sure of the Tharks' motives either and sought to escape from their custody as soon as he could. This proved to be fairly easy as the Virginian was soon discovered to possess supernatural powers!
The Virginian was strong enough to kill a Thark with a single punch and could move so quickly that he seemed to blur past everyone else. With these powers, the Virginian escaped from the Tharks. None of them had any hope of catching up to the Virginian, so Woola was sent to retrieve him. Using his super speed, Woola was able to catch up with the Virginian within moments. Puzzled by the Calot's speed, the Virginian was distracted long enough for a pair of White Apes to sneak up and attack him. Woola ended up helping the Virginian and the two worked together to defeat the apes.
In the aftermath, Woola was able to bond with the Virginian and convince him that the Tharks were peaceful. When the Virginian returned Woola to the Tharks, he also finally told the tribe his name - John Carter.
John Carter Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Another reason John Carter is so influential - as well as another reason to consider giving your dog a John Carter inspired name - is the man who wrote it; Edgar Rice Burroughs. That name ought to ring a bell for anyone who's been through the American Public Education system. But if it didn't, how about the name Tarzan? Yes, Tarzan, the King of the Jungle. Guess who came up with him? That's right - Tarzan and John Carter are both creations of the 20th-century author. Grab a pen and paper and consider monikers like Ozara, Carthoris, Llana and Dotar as name possibilities for your new addition.
