Introduction
If you’ve watched even one season of iZombie, it won’t be too long until you’re looking up iZombie inspired dog names and adopting a new dog. The show is addictive and inspiring, and its characters have unique names you could use for a human or dog.
iZombie is a TV series that premiered in 2015. It follows a Seattle medical resident, Olivia (Liv) Moore, who attends a boat party and ends up turning into a zombie. She abandons her career, ends her relationship and engagement with her fiancé Major, and begins working at the King County Morgue to have access to as many brains as she needs.
The show is full of action, entertainment, and adrenaline-pumping drama, which is why you may like any of these iZombie inspired dog names for your pooch below.
iZombie Inspired Dog Names in Pop Culture
Two dogs in pop culture relate to the TV series iZombie: Angus and Chase. They both share the same names as two characters – even if their personalities are far more delightful than those of the iZombie characters!
Angus appeared in the 1997 movie Mr. Magoo, taking on the role of Mr. Magoo’s English Bulldog. The film was called a commercial failure, falling short of its $30 million by $9 million. The biggest disappointment was the mocking of people with disabilities. However, if there was anything to love about the movie, it was Angus.
He was a cute, chubby, and inquisitive pooch that ended up helping Mr. Magoo and Waldo work out how to track down a stolen ruby. His role wasn’t significant, but he was potentially one of the best things about the movie.
While Robert Knepper is involved in controversy and has now left the show as Angus McDonough, he played a significant role throughout the TV series – appearing more often as a main character in the fourth season. Angus is Blaine’s father, an abusive man that did everything in his power to destroy his son. Blaine ended up trapping Angus in a well, but Don E. releases him and helps him create carnage. Angus becomes a religious leader known as Brother Love, all to build an anti-human and pro-zombie sentiment that threatens to turn Seattle on its head.
It’s not all doom and gloom, however, as Chase Graves (Jason Dohring) plays a less violent and evil character – even if it’s not by much. Chase is a recurring character throughout season three and four. He is involved in the Fillmore Graves group and has Major as his right-hand man. However, Chase falls to the pressure and stress and does things that are not in the best interests of the humans or zombies – such as killing the heroine Renegade then putting Liv on his “next” list. To save Liv, Major kills Chase in the fourth season.
Chase was also a Trenton Thunder mascot, a beautiful Golden Retriever born in 2000, known as Golden Thunder. Chase was the bat dog, retrieving bats and balls at the first inning of most Trenton Thunder games. After recovering them, he would return them to the Thunder dugout.
Chase then moved onto bigger and better things, catching frisbees for a fan to win cash prizes, and carrying balls and water to umpires. Chase sired puppies to become new generation bat dogs and retired three days before his death in 2013 with a retirement party and video tribute.
iZombie Inspired Dog Name Considerations
In iZombie, when you turn into a zombie, you turn white. Your hair changes to white, your skin becomes pale, and you’re essentially albino. If you are going to look for iZombie inspired dog names, you may like to consider your dog’s fur. If they are white, they are going to suit such a title more than other dogs.
Another consideration is your dog’s personality compared to their character. For example, if you call your dog Dawnn who took on a hero-type role in the TV series, is your dog of a similar nature? Or, if you call them Major, will they be strong and fiercely loyal? There are several standout characters in iZombie, and when you begin taking note of all the potential iZombie inspired dog names, you need to work out if any are going to suit your dog’s personality.
Of course, the gender, too, can play a role. You potentially wouldn’t call a male dog Olivia or a female dog Blaine. Keep that in mind as you watch the TV show. With enough research and opinions from friends and family, you will be able to adopt a dog and give them an iZombie inspired name that suits them immediately.
