Introduction
Irredeemable Dog Names in Pop Culture
First off, Sirius' humble beginnings; as you may have guessed from his name, Sirius is a dog from the Marvel Universe that had a run-in with Dr. Bruce Banner. After examining the hound, Bruce was able to deduce that the dog had a rare disease that was slowly destroying his musculoskeletal system. In a rare, somewhat out of character moment, Bruce Banner decided to expose the dog to gamma radiation in an attempt to heal his injuries; this is despite the fact that exposure to gamma radiation was a catalyst for some of the biggest tragedies in Bruce's own life.
Sirius' condition drastically improved but it wouldn't be long before the dog started exhibiting strange symptoms. Sure enough, when Sirius became extremely angry, he transformed into a massive beast with emerald green fur and razor-sharp fangs and teeth. Sirius the Gamma Dog was officially born. The first thing he did with his new found strength was to destroy the home of the Douglas family - the humans that had taken him in. Next, Sirius set his sights on the Douglas children, biting one of the kids on the arm and causing extensive damage. Things became so dire that the Patriarch of the Douglas family had to shoot Sirius for the good of all.
Just like The Plutonian, one can't help but feel for Sirius. However, it's also impossible to approve of the dog's actions when he cut loose, as the damage he caused was utterly life altering. In the end, the most irredeemable thing about the Plutonian's and Sirius' tales is the fact that things were ever allowed to spiral out of control so severely.
Irredeemable Inspired Dog Name Considerations
Another reason one might want to consider giving their dog an Irredeemable inspired name is the sheer breadth and depth of the comic; Irredeemable isn't a story where everyone makes it out okay and status quo is upheld. To answer the very terrifying question that he used as the comic's thesis, Mark Waid had to take the series to some very dark places. Irredeemable isn't the sort of story you can casually crack open and read for kicks and giggles. It's dark, gritty, somewhat depressing, and very poignant. If you're a fan of comics like The Watchmen or Y: The Last Man, then consider giving Irredeemable a chance. Within its covers, you will find names like Alana, Quibit, Siren and Gilgamos as considerations to call your new furry addition.
