I Am Number Four Dog Names

If you love the characters in I Am Number Four enough to consider naming your dog after them, then knowing they appear in pop culture too could be another reason to consider them as well. Two such characters are Bud and Max.

Max appears in the 1993 movie Man’s Best Friend, along with actress Ally Sheedy.  Max is a Tibetan Mastiff and starts as man’s best friend, before turning into a monster – attacking everything in sight. The movie, for obvious reasons, is in the horror comedy section and was a modest success in the box office.

Max is a dog that scientists kept in a research facility called EMAX. An EMAX employee contacts a TV show to sneakily show the animal cruelty that goes on in the facility. Once she goes back to work, the dog attacks her before a doctor who owns the dog sedates it.

The TV personality, Lori, returns, breaks into the facility, films the animals and releases Max. Lori forms a bond with Max but doesn’t realize he’s a risk. It turns out, Max is a genetic mix of a snake, big cats, chameleons, and birds of prey and begins terrorizing the neighborhood.

Max in I Am Number Four has superpowers, too but is by no means aggressive. He’s a Human Garde runaway and forms close friendships with Nemo and Ghost. He can understand all foreign languages and ends up teaming up with Six and Sam before settling in the Human Garde Academy.

Bud is also another dog name that’s prevalent in pop culture as well as being a character in I Am Number Four. Bud is the first dog to travel across the United States in a car. Horatio Jackson, an automobile pioneer, and physician drives across the United States with Sewall Crocker to become the first people to do so.

As Horatio and Sewall reach Idaho, they come across a Pit Bull named Bud. Newspapers reported that the duo stole Bud, but they said a man sold them the dog for $15 and that they had desperately wanted him. As they made their way through dusty alkali flats, they found that the dust irritated Bud’s eyes. To protect them, they gave him goggles. Bud then got sick after drinking unsafe water but survived.

They then faced another battle when they hit something on the road and Bud, along with the others, were thrown from the car. However, they were all able to continue. After the trip, Horatio, Bud, and Horatio’s wife Bertha resided in Burlington, Vermont.

In I Am Number Four, Bud (Sanderson) is the Secretary of Defense during the fall of New York. He appears to be haggard, aging, and a man with age spots and a double chin. However, Mogadorian MogPro treatments give him a healthy glow, youthful skin, and helps him to lose weight too.
