Introduction
Heroic Dog Names In Pop Culture
Along with being hopelessly lost in a thick and distant forest, Ms. Lorio was also badly battered, bruised, and concussed from her crash, leaving her woefully disoriented and shaken. Things were looking incredibly bleak for Ms. Lorio and, at one point, it seemed that nothing could save her from meeting an untimely end out in the forest. But luckily for Shannon Lorio, Hero was on patrol that night.
Hero had specifically slipped away from his home that night because he heard the sound of Ms. Lorio's car crashing into the wilderness. Hero's nose and ears helped him find the crash site relatively quickly, and one of the first things he saw when he made it to the crash site was Shannon Lorio's battered, bloodied, and bruised body. The wandering German Shepherd ran over to Shannon Lorio's unconscious body and licked her face until she finally came to. Hero then proceeded to get firm grip around Ms. Lorio's clothes, using his strong jaws and teeth, before pulling her an astounding 50 yards away from the wreckage and towards a nearby highway.
There, Shannon Lorio was able to get the attention of some of the other people on the road, who promptly came to her aid and called for Emergency Services to come help. Ms. Lorio would receive medical aid thanks to the efforts of Hero, and the dog returned back to his home after his job was done. But Hero's efforts would not go unrewarded, as the German Shepherd was honored at grand opening of the Thomasville Dog Park, in Georgia. Hero was given the prestigious Shining World Hero Award by members of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association, and all who were present at the grand opening got a chance to meet and play with the dog named Hero himself.
Heroic Dog Name Considerations
Another great thing about these heroic dogs is that their exploits tend to shatter many of the negative, preconceived notions people have come to levy on certain dog breeds. For instance, Pit Bulls are often feared and treated with disgust or outright disdain due to the stories of this particular breed attacking people without cause. But in the same way that not all humans should be treated with disgust because some of us choose to become serial killers, not all Pit Bulls should be mistreated due to their propensity to save others from harm, rather than cause it. As you'll read on, you'll find plenty of examples of heroic Pit Bulls, any many other well known breeds, who put the lives of others before their own.
