Introduction
Gundam Inspired Dog Names In Pop Culture
Just as they suspected, Gundam was an excellent dog. He acted friendly to humans and other animals alike. Gundam got along well with anyone and everyone that he met, thoroughly debunking the claims that he was a "mean and unruly" pet. As of this writing, Gundam remains in a Korean dog shelter - patiently hoping for the chance to find a new home. We feel that we should mention that Gundam is a Bulgae - a dog breed that's incredibly uncommon in Korea.
Another dog we'd like to discuss is a character from the Gundam universe. His name is Flanders, and he was prominently featured in Mobile Suit Victory Gundam. Despite sharing a name with an incredibly favorite Simpsons character, Flanders is nothing like Homer's pious next door neighbor. Flanders, the dog, is super laid back and chill. Being a dog, he cannot express or entertain any complex thoughts. This makes it very easy to get along with Flanders the dog, who is always seen hanging out with Shakti Kareen.
Lastly, we'd like to shout out all of the Mobile Suits that resemble dogs. Special notice goes to the TMF/A-802W2 Kerberos BuCUE Hound - a Gundam that first appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: STARGAZER. The Kerberos was a lean and mean fighting machine piloted by Isaac Mau and Alec Lad during separate time periods. Both Isaac and Alec piloted unique variants of the Kerberos Unit that look visually distinct and possess their different weapons and combat capabilities. As you may have guessed, the Kerberos Units are homages to Cerberus - the Guard Dog of the Greek Underworld. Most Kerberos Units don't have three heads since only one person can pilot them at a time. Nevertheless, the Kerberos Units are just as fierce and deadly as their namesake.
Gundam Inspired Dog Name Considerations
We encourage newcomers to the Gundam fandom to learn about the series' history as best they can. Then, comb through the franchise's legendarium until you find the installments that best match your tastes. Gundam has worn many hats over the decades it's been around - it's been a Space Opera, a Hard Sci-Fi, a Romance tale, a Western, and a War Story. No matter who you are or what you're into, you'll find a Gundam show, manga, or video game that's right for you. And if you're a dyed in the wool Gundam fan, then you already know which installments work best for you.
Put all this information together to draw upon as inspiration for your new pup's name. Match a Gundam character to a personality trait or character you see in your pal and go from there. We'll name drop characters, concepts, and Mobile Suits from all across Gundam's history down below.
