Green Lantern Inspired Dog Names

G'nort is a man sized, humanoid dog-like alien creature from the planet G'newt. Having always been the object of ridicule and disrespect in his youth, G'nort wanted nothing more than to prove his detractors wrong by becoming a decorated member of the Green Lantern Corps, just like his uncle G'newmann G'noggs before him. Unfortunately for G'nort, the insults levied at him by his peers weren't entirely without merit, as G'nort would often make a fool of himself and prove himself to not exactly be the sharpest tool in the shed. In fact, G'nort's mental faculties were so limited that, sometime during his formative years, the aspiring Green Lantern had brought a report card back home that was filled to the brim with failing marks. 

As punishment for his academic incompetence, G'nort was grounded and confined to his room for six months. During this time period, he ran away from home and set out to personally find his uncle. When G'nort finally did encounter G'newmann G'noggs, his uncle hadn't exactly lived up to all of the legends surrounding him (nor was he particularly thrilled about the idea of letting the Green Lanterns know he was related to a knave.) Instead of contacting the Guardians of Oa, G'newmann gave G'nort a pseudo Green Lantern Ring that was made by the Poglachians, a race of clown like beings.

For years, G'nort believed himself to be a bonafide member of the Green Lantern Corps until one fateful day, G'nort found himself working with the notorious Green Lantern Guy Gardner, who was headed to the hostile planet of Qward. G'nort and Guy were captured shortly after they'd arrived and G'nort was told by a Qwardian soldier that not only was his ring a fake, but so was the ring his uncle was allegedly given by the Guardians of Oa. The Qwardian soldier went on to reveal that G'newmann and G'nort were allowed to parade around as Green Lanterns in a bid to discredit the actual group. 

Crushed by this revelation, G'nort initially fell into a deep depression until the Qwardian soldier proceeded to brag about how he'd planned to torture Guy Gardner. G'nort became extremely angry and, to the surprise of all, rose up and defeated the Qwardian soldier in an inexplicable act of heroism. G'nort and Guy escaped Qward and returned to Oa, where Guy reluctantly told the Guardians of G'nort's bravery and recommended that he be admitted into the Green Lantern Corps. The Guardians agreed and gifted G'nort with a genuine Green Lantern Ring, finally making him a authentic Green Lantern.
