Introduction
Officially the Gabonese Republic, Gabon is a sovereign state on the west coast of Central Africa. The country is located on the equator and is bordered by Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, Cameroon to the north, the Republic of Congo on the east and south and the Gulf of Guinea to the west. The country, which gained independence from France in 1960, is home to around 2 million people. Rainforests cover a large part of the country, which has three distinct regions: the coastal plains, the mountains and the savannah (in the eastern part of the country).
Gabon offers plenty to explore, including unique name possibilities for your pup. Take a closer look at the country and you may find the name you have been looking for.
Gabon Dog Names In Pop Culture
Bruno Ecuele Manga is a professional football player from Gabon who is known for being a tough tackler. It turns out that Bruno is also the name for quite a few well-known pups. For example, a dog named Bruno is well-known in Longville, Minnesota. For years, the pup has left home each day to walk four miles on Highway 84 to the town of Longville. Residents can see him sometime not long after sunrise. The dog has been making this walk for twelve plus years. Upon arriving in town, he will make his rounds before returning home to his owners, Larry and Debbie LaVallee.
Larry jokes that the first time he saw Bruno in town, the pup had almost gotten there before him. Larry used to pick up trash and while engaged in his work, he noticed Bruno about five minutes after arriving in town. The pup was apparently a wanderer from the beginning. In fact, the couple met Bruno when he was just a puppy and a guy came to their door letting them know that “their” dog was at the end of the driveway. Larry saw the puppy, who appeared to be a stray who was abandoned. The LaValles tried to keep Bruno at home at the beginning, sometimes chaining him up. But this did not stop Bruno who would pull long and hard at the chain.
The LaValles often get calls from those new to the town letting them know that they found their “lost dog”. Fortunately, the LaValle’s know that Bruno knows how to get home, so they encourage the kindhearted folk to let him go so he can make the journey. Of course, Bruno loves treats and donuts are a favorite; the pup has an amazing ability to dodge traffic and continues his walks despite his increased age and slowing down, just not going every day as he had in the past.
Last year the town dedicated a carved wooden statue in his honor, located in a park on the town’s main street. Bruno, who has acted like the town’s mascot, will always be a part of the community.
Another dog named Bruno can be found at the Timberline Lodge in Oregon. The Lodge has a long tradition of having Saint Bernard’s as mascots (dating back to the 1950’s). Currently, there are two Lodge mascots, one of which is a girl named Heidi; the newest addition is a boy named Bruno. Bruno, who belongs to ski sales manager Kim Nylund, has been at the Lodge since he was a puppy, working on his socializing skills. The pup comes to work each day that Nylund does, where his role is to be there for the guests. It is said that Bruno is excellent at his job, where he excels at licking faces, snuggling and providing companionship to visitors.
Gabon Dog Name Considerations
When trying to decide on a name for your pup, you may not be sure where to start. Since you know you will be calling this name many times a day for years to come, it makes sense that you want the name to be the right fit for your pup. And if the name can have some meaning to you, even better. Understandably, the right name for your pup may not be on the tip of your tongue or simple to come by.
So just how do you go about finding a name that feels just right for your pup? One way is to think of a particular place that either has meaning to you or is of interest. Once you choose the place, you will want to take a closer look at it. Every place will have its own unique things about it and these elements can bring to mind possible monikers. Take Gabon, for example. This coastal country in the eastern part of Africa is home to unique towns, rivers, landscapes, food and people, among many other things.
A closer look at Gabon will likely bring to your attention numerous name possibilities, one of which may be just right for your canine pal.
