Introduction
Futurama Dog Names In Pop Culture
Seymour was so incredibly loyal to Fry that by the time the latter had been cryogenically frozen, the former waited for Fry at their usual meeting spot without fail. For years and years, Seymour eagerly awaited the return of his human friend, yet days passed without any sign of Fry's return. Days turned to weeks, weeks, turned to months, and months turned to years as Seymour waited for Fry to come back, yet it was all to no avail. Nevertheless, the dog was steadfast in his conviction to wait for Fry; so much so, that Seymour spent the rest of his life waiting for Fry to return to him. Fast forward to the time during which the Jurassic Bark episode takes place and Fry still torn as to whether or not he should bring his furry friend back to life. Ultimately though, Fry decides that Seymour should be left to rest in peace and he objects against reviving his petrified puppy.
Seymour's story is partially based off of the Japanese Akita dog Hachikō, who similarly waited for his owner for years and years, ultimately perishing as a result. Hachikō's story touched so many lives that a statue was dedicated to the dog that currently resides in Tokyo, Japan. While stories like these are heartbreaking when you first hear about them, they also speak volumes on the levels of the inherent loyalty found within dogs. The fact that these dogs passed away waiting for their owners shows that animals are just as, if not more in certain instances, capable of great acts of compassion. These stories remind us that kindness, loyalty, and love are not mutually exclusive to human beings and that we should strive to express the same level of affection towards others, regardless of their background or even of their species.
Futurama Dog Name Considerations
Maybe the boyish charm and relentless air-headedness of Philip J. Fry really stuck with you in a profound way? Conversely, maybe Fry's undying loyalty and earnestness endeared this simple but otherwise good man to you? Either way you slice it, consider naming your dog after this New York delivery boy turned, well, intergalactic delivery boy. Maybe you love Bender's uncompromisingly raunchy personality which equally belies a heart of gold...as well as iron, zinc, and a few other transition metals. Whichever characters have struck your funny bones and your heart strings, consider naming your dog after them.
