French Tricolor Hound Dog Names

There is a magical estate in France's Loire Valley complete with lush and vibrant gardens, a castle with a lavish interior, complete with artwork, antique French furnishings, and all of the trimmings. It is surrounded by an English-style park in which visitors can board electric cars or even boats to take a tour. The estate has been in the same family for over 600 years.

The Château de Cheverny houses more than 100 French Tricolor Hounds in their kennels, which were created in 1850. Hunting is very much a part of their culture, and the dogs are used for hunting in the winter, and visitors are welcome to go and visit the strikingly gorgeous hounds year round. 

A popular event is feeding time! The caretakers lay out food, which includes raw chicken, and all the hounds do not begin to eat until they are given the command! People are also able to vote on names for the hounds, and some names include Lovier, Legende, Lancelot, and Liverpool. The famous dinner time ritual for the Hounds is featured in the August 2013 edition of the Huffington Post. The Hounds of the estate, Cheverny, are featured all over because so many people love to come and watch so many hounds eat at once! 

In the famous Horse & Hound magazine, a direct descendent to the French Tricolor Hound is featured, known as the English Foxhound. The April 2018 edition of the magazine has an article about the English Foxhound breed and their ability to be stunning show dogs. The magazine showcases the uniqueness of the breed and highlights, not only the hunting qualities but their beauty as well.

Horse & Hound magazine highlights the prestigious annual show, known as the Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show, which has been running for 130 years. Many hunting dogs are shown in this "royal" dog show, including the English Foxhound. There are many types of competitions, including relays, coursing, and more. If you are a horse lover and a dog lover, this is a show you don't want to miss.

Tracker, the Foxhound (a direct relative of and lineage of the French Tricolor Hound), was featured in the Fort Leavenworth Lamp, a news source in Delaware, was crowned the top hound dog in the local hunt club's performance trials in Kansas. There were five unique hunts in the performance trial that named this eight-year-old Foxhound the winner of it all! Great job, Tracker!
